Looks to be a great start for someone with the build bug.....

How complete/incomplete is this car? I see that it has the basic parts, but it looks like it needs wiring, gauges, and more. I'm seriously thinking about this car so anyone feedback would be appreciated.

I could be mistaken, but I think it's been around for a while.

I agree....not sure about the history other than seeing several post from the guy asking for the value of the car "as-is".

CHANMADD 09-21-2010 11:05 PM

Thats why so many cars from that era never got completed ,because what was left for the builder was basically building the car from scratch......Thats whay it was called a kit car and not a driver minus....

Maybe I should buy it and use my ERA as a donor ;) After all, it is a Contemporary Cobra.....Shame it does not have the coil over front end. Wonder what it would cost to convert it over to coil sporing.

You would need to have the X-brace installed (Mickmate?) and get new A-arms from Kurt Hamilton. (Call Kugel Komponents for#) I would quess about $3k

Danielg 09-22-2010 02:03 PM

well, that was interesting

mickmate 09-22-2010 05:42 PM

That's bottom end kit price for top end stuff. That will be a great project for someone on a car that stands the test of time.

Danielg 09-22-2010 08:30 PM

Thanks for the kind word Mickmate

I'd use these in it for gauges if you didn't want to spring for the Smithshttp://www.summitracing.com/search/B...d=cobra+gauges
I would at least front/top vent the tank if you used the Camaro to make it fill better. The Jag geometry is fantastic and I would rate the torsion bars to the weight of the car. I make plenty of CCX parts and upgrades that are bolt ins. Funnily enough the CCX seats are a little hard to find and sought after but there are options on that of course

Thanks for the lead, another great set seats you can buy right from ERA.

Now 17 years later I have a Ferrari, 70 trans am, 72 pro street car, Detomaso GT5, 33 ford coupe, wait sold the 33, now a 36 coupe and 2 cobra's, 3000 square feet of shop, and kids are 12 and 15 and My head is back in the cobra game. But I don't need a race car, I have fast cars, I was just going with the keep it simple stupid theory and build it 100% stock.

Got any pictures of the others and the shop? ;)

Bill S.

PS: My advice is to take detailed, well lit pictures of the car as you plan to sell it (minus the knock offs, etc) so that there is less confusion as to just what your potential buyer is getting (pictures vs description fine print).

Gees. If I had the readies, I'd be onto this one. :3DSMILE: Major bargain!

the car didn't sell on ebay, part of me is soooo relieved, after listing I have heard nothing but horror stories of scammers. I even contacted ebay about it. Lots of lookers, no one serious. oh well. Next spring.

E bay is a knightmare. love your garage WOW.

FredBMOC 09-25-2010 05:24 AM

Daniel, You obviously love cars, IMO you should just go ahead and build it and enjoy it. After having a Cobra for a week I can't believe how much I am enjoying this thing and I am sure you will enjoy yours as much! Good luck!
