CCX Seat Belt Anchorages
Hi Guys,
here in the UK we have to have shoulder straps by law on both sides of the car. How have you guys accomplished a good solid anchorage for the shoulder straps? Any nice clear pictures would be great. Thanks in advance. |
Hey Kevin do you have a rollbar? I'll get you some pics.
|
Hi Nick,
Yes I do have a 3 legged roll bar. Thanks any help and advice appreciated. |
Hey Kevin drivers side with a rollbar is easy just add one of these.

Use a bracket the same as the rear rollbar brace. Tie that forward to the extended crossbar. http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/975/061511014.jpg I would rather see you put a rollbar on the passenger side if you are installing shoulder straps on that side. You could tell them it came with an American lefty rollbar and you added the righty. |
Nicely done Nick!

How about anchoring with no roll bar? If I ever get started, I'm going with no roll bar .

Thanks Nick, Are the roll bars still available from any where? My right hand one is chromed. I had thought about adding a passenger one (which would be your drivers side) Did any original cars have twin roll bars? |
Here is a CCX shorty chromed US drivers side. PhotoPost Classifieds - Roll bar Shorty Contemporary Chromed - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds
I make them as a complete kit with brackets et al. You can finish to suit after fitting to your car. That is another one of mine pictured, fitted to a car that didn't have one. Chrome is expensive and I like the black look. I haven't seen any originals with two roll bars, only a couple of odd wide ones. |
Hey John if you're doing no rollbar and want shoulder harnesses I would do two rear rollbar braces only anchored to the frame as shown but keep them on a steeper angle under the rear cowl and put a bar between them.
|
Those shoulder harness attachment pointslook kinda low. From what I have read you never want the shoulder points to be lower than you shoulders, because in an accident instead of restraining you they would end up restraining you and compressing you which is very bad for your spine.

So I guess the plus or minus 10 degrees would depend on the size of the driverand there shoulder height. So if the driver is tall that would be the wrong location for shoulder belt ancorage.

Full bad taste
