Default 427 Cobra Chassis measurements

I was advised to post this question in this forum rather than the scratch build forum so here it is.

I’m keen to start to fabricate my own Cobra chassis but I have no measurements to begin with. I’m mainly looking for the main chassis beams specs i.e the length and distance apart they are. I want to use 4” round tube and I will be using Jag front and rear suspension with a 429 BBF engine. I have tried looking it up on the internet but haven’t come across much. I hope you guys with experience can help me out.

Thanks

Good evening, I actually did reply in the scratchbuilder section. Don't worry if there are minor mistakes in the Cobra Restorers drawings for $200. By the time you get to them you can manage to correct them.

I still like to know what the discrepancies are. I built approximately seven chassis since 2002 based on those plans, to various stages depending on the actual body they received. I was quite happy with the plans.

However, there are other chassis which are easier to copy. Like a round tube CCX (Contemporary), or buy a FFR (Factory Five) chassis. If you build a CSX chassis you also need to build CSX suspension.

FFR seem to be 92" wheelbase vs 90", if I am not mistaken.

FFR is a 90" wheelbase, but takes certain liberties with their chassis vs an original.

Morning, I know. Tried to give the man a chance ;-)
In both sections of the forum...

We should perhaps have some AI created replies for guys planning a new build and asking for dimensions.

AI answer: Get the CR plans for $200 if you plan to build a car costing you $40.000, what's $200??

3 months later AI update: Get ChuckCobra plans for suspension $1.000(?)

And if one asks: Will XYZ body fit, or is there a manual then AI answer can be: Leave it.

:-)
Hoodabest and CompFi like this.
