Compomotive Wheels CCX3057

Hi:
Quick question on wheels. I've been told these are Compomotive wheels (neat looking, kind of a 289 Coupe pattern blacked out), any ideas on how the spinners are attached? I doubt they have been off the car in awhile, I've managed to loosen the spinners with WD-40 and a rawhide mallet and figure I can spin them enough to get access to each bolt (which I'm sure wll require a thin-walled socket (size?) for circumfrential clearance. I've also got a question into Compomotive USA but any assistance would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Starting from zero. Kirk |
Look like the same ones I had on my first Cobra.
There should be a couple of Allen Screws on the sides of the center hub behind the spinner that need to be loosened. Then the spinner should pull right off. |

The Allen Screws fit in a groove on the spinner to hold it in place, there may also be an O-Ring on the shaft of the spinner to help stabilize it in the hub.

Just in case those aren't Compomotive wheels, my American racing 454's have a fake hub that pushes through from the rear and has a lip that holds it in the rear of the wheel. The spinners simply spin onto that as though it is a normal hub. Since it is all aluminum, it may be sticking a bit due to galling. You may need to use a hefty shot of penetrating oil or heat to remove them if they are stuck.

Thanks for the next lead. I'm going to give it another visual (using flashlight this time :-)) and take things from there. I'm pretty sure they're Compomotives (identical to Jeff's fotos) but never can tell. Another related question: Jeff, what tire sizes are you running? I've currently Front Tires P245/50/R15 Rear Tires P305/50/R15 and am thinking they're a little wide. Many thanks in advance. Kirk |

The allen screw is small, ~1/8th" or less. It also sets into the hole, countersunk style. |

Thanks for the note, and the spinner is off. The allen set screw is mounted radially through the wheel center portion locking into a groove machined into the spinner circumference. Pretty small, and a piece of cake now. Thanks again. I'm sure I'll have more. Cheers. Kirk |

Kirk, Just a quick tip. When I put the spinners back on my Compmotive wheels, I always lay a bead of black silicone around the full circumference of the spinner. In case the allen screw comes loose, the silicone holds the spinner in place. They are want to spin off the car if you don't secure them just right.

I also have Compotive HB 500 wheels on my car. Does anyone know of anyplace I can find a spinner. One of mine came off. The Black silicone trick sounds like a good idea. Thanks, Dan

No, I don't know of any sources for a spinner, but definitely a good idea with the silicone. One of mine did come loose but caught it just in time before separating itself from the wheel.

What is up with Compomotive? I lost a spinner about 10 months ago and have not been able to replace it. According to Compomotive USA they are "back ordered"
