Are there many daytona factory 5 cars for sale?

hi, I am looking for a finished kit car. Prefer the daytona before the cobra (though both are amazing), but I havent seen any for sale.

My problem gets worse because importing a finished kit car into Canada is next to impossible...unless it is on a mustang chasis over 15 year old (but all fox body mustangs are minimum 20 years old now, so I am good there)

anyway, i was wondering if many come up for sale or should i set my mind on a factory 5 cobra? I looked into getting a daytona kit from factory 5, but it will add up to be big coin

Since the Factory Five kits aren't built on a Mustang chassis, I'm not sure how this helps your cause? If you want a Factory Five Coupe, you are probably going to need to order a kit and build it yourself- minus the parts your government won't let in that you will need to supply and install.
It would probably still be cheaper than buying a complete car and trying to get it into Canada....

My bad...I thought all factory 5 kits ran on a stang chasis. Ya seems like a cobra is the way to go for me

tcrist 07-28-2013 08:59 PM

I only know of one Cobra kit that uses a manufacture chassis and that is on a Corvette chassis. I saw it at Knotts one year. I think that they are still in business but not sure. I think it was out of Arizona, but I could be wrong.

Just checked and here it is, http://www.cobrasnvettes.com/

You should talk to Ross about one of his cars. He has a Canadian distributor.
Send him an email and see what he has to say. They are beautiful cars!

Nope, only power train and suspension come from a Mustang if it's a donor build. Factory 5's have their own chassis.

There are NO cobra kits that use a Mustang chassis. There is one company that used a Corvette chassis, but they're no longer in business.

Jeff Classic can still get you a fine car built on a Vette chassis. If not on his website then check over at the Arizona Cobras group.

There's a very nice-looking FFR Daytona Coupe for sale in Surrey B.C. right now (see the listing on Kijiji).

What do you think I am doing? Reading up/making posts is doing homework. Please don't stalk my posts just to write some snotty info.

Thanks to the rest of the people who offered some info. I am sorry I am not knowledgeable on this topic and I am seeking information on it.

I simply showed you that you need to do more research and you call that stalking.

The facts show from your post you are out of your element, the facts of your posts also show you do not understand the kit car market and have been speaking to the wrong people who have filled your head with misinformation. Again, I do not see this as stalking, just showing you the error of your ways. If anyone is being snotty here, it is you, not me. %/

15 years is the magic number, a kit car already built and turn key must be a minimum of 15 years old to be imported into Canada. There are a myriad of other items that must be satisfied before Trans Canada will allow one of the these cars in to your country. Also, while you imported a Viper in the past, you can throw away everything you learned as kit cars are their own binder at Trans Canada.

maybe it is just a Canadian thing, where you feel that you are smarter than everyone else here.

Darth Menace 07-29-2013 10:13 PM

nope, it's not a Canadian thing...we leave that to the Americans. Keeping in mind I admit I am not knowledgable in the kit/Cobra market, which is why I come here to ask questions, and get help from everyone and criticism from you.

If you want to go to each of my posts pointing out that I am uneducated/needling/pointing, etc...please refrain from "helping" me.

Out of curiosity, how do they judge the Mustang-ness of a car? If a car has Mustang spindles, steering rack, steering column, engine, trans, rear axle, wheels, seats, electronics... If you go by weight alone you have to be approaching or passing 50%.

Really though, 2 minutes on the FFR website would have FACTUALLY answered ALL your questions about how they're constructed and saved all this back and forth. Same applies for any other brand.

I have no idea how you would judge that.

When you completely remove parts from one car and reinstall them on a totally different car, what does it matter?

Taking the same components from a corvette wouldn't make a cobra a re-bodied corvette.

First, I would check out the Factory 5 "For Sale" section.

Second, Scott is a member here and lives in the San Diego area. His Factory 5 Daytona Coupe is for sale and it's a top notch build. Plus, he's a top notch guy. Unfortunately, I have no idea how you'll be able to import it.

Type 65 Coupe in California

Some of us have done the export/import thing in the past with wonderful success. In this case, the car in question cannot be imported until it has aged gracefully just a little longer.

That's too bad, because there aren't too many sellers and cars that you can trust and have faith in. And Scott and his Coupe happen to be one/a pair.
