Are there many daytona factory 5 cars for sale?
hi, I am looking for a finished kit car. Prefer the daytona before the cobra (though both are amazing), but I havent seen any for sale.
My problem gets worse because importing a finished kit car into Canada is next to impossible...unless it is on a mustang chasis over 15 year old (but all fox body mustangs are minimum 20 years old now, so I am good there) anyway, i was wondering if many come up for sale or should i set my mind on a factory 5 cobra? I looked into getting a daytona kit from factory 5, but it will add up to be big coin |
Since the Factory Five kits aren't built on a Mustang chassis, I'm not sure how this helps your cause? If you want a Factory Five Coupe, you are probably going to need to order a kit and build it yourself- minus the parts your government won't let in that you will need to supply and install.
It would probably still be cheaper than buying a complete car and trying to get it into Canada.... Bob |
My bad...I thought all factory 5 kits ran on a stang chasis. Ya seems like a cobra is the way to go for me

I only know of one Cobra kit that uses a manufacture chassis and that is on a Corvette chassis. I saw it at Knotts one year. I think that they are still in business but not sure. I think it was out of Arizona, but I could be wrong.

nope, it's not a Canadian thing...we leave that to the Americans. Keeping in mind I admit I am not knowledgable in the kit/Cobra market, which is why I come here to ask questions, and get help from everyone and criticism from you.
If you want to go to each of my posts pointing out that I am uneducated/needling/pointing, etc...please refrain from "helping" me. |
Out of curiosity, how do they judge the Mustang-ness of a car? If a car has Mustang spindles, steering rack, steering column, engine, trans, rear axle, wheels, seats, electronics... If you go by weight alone you have to be approaching or passing 50%.

First, I would check out the Factory 5 "For Sale" section.
Second, Scott is a member here and lives in the San Diego area. His Factory 5 Daytona Coupe is for sale and it's a top notch build. Plus, he's a top notch guy. Unfortunately, I have no idea how you'll be able to import it. Type 65 Coupe in California |
