CSX2286. Repaired or?

What did Mr. Walton do with 2286 since he wrecked it in 2012. I've searched and searched but nothing comes up.
Thanks.

Guessing it will be repaired?
What would be the advantage of leaving it wrecked? Its been restored prior to, no?

I would agree. (It's not like money is an issue.) The last of anything I've seen on the car is the photo of it being trailered under a green tarp and that was posted shortly after he wrecked it in 2012.

The car is still waiting its turn outside the Maaco shop.

Why? checking his credit rating?

MFE III 03-25-2014 06:39 PM

He's trying to find some non-union, child labor exploiting shop in Thailand to fix it cheap.

No. It's a busy shop. Can't just drive into Maaco.

Racer_X 03-26-2014 08:58 PM

No, it's still waiting in line outside the northwest Houston walmart tire shop, waiting on the tire to come in so it can roll again.

Is there a backstory to some of the comments? Has he not been a good caretaker of the car? Or are we just enjoying some Walmart humor?

Speaking for me, it's just the latter.

treddingjr 03-27-2014 07:54 PM

I started this because I was curious as to whether the car is still sitting under the green tarp, or if someone was repairing or restoring it. The Wal-Mart humor is just a bonus!

Rob takes great care of the car. Some of us simply enjoy poking fun at obvious targets. **)

Officially the last I had heard the car (CSX 2286 ) was in Primer and ready for Paint - only 2 years in the fixing. ...not bad considering.

this is not the first time that 2286's nose has been worked on, if you recall your Daytona history, it was configured briefly as a 390 coupe' and dropped off a car carrier in an accident.

Panavia Any idea what part of the country it is in getting fixed. I was told a story but not sure it is true.

They are not targets, but walmarts! :p

bkozlow 07-04-2014 03:57 AM

CSX-2286 was not dropped off a car carrier, as I remember that was CSX-2300 and no damage was done to that car.

Bill , - 2286 was the 390 coupe for a time and was nose dived off of a car carrier WAY back when, rebodied to a std 289 config. I would suppose its painted by now. -
