Default what is a completed FFR daytona worth?

Ok guys, heres the deal. I'm thinking of buying a Daytona kit and building the car, then selling it, buying another building it, then selling it until I've paid for one for me to keep.

If I build one using the following parts, whats it going to be worth? I'm trying to figure out a good profit margin that is fair to the buyer, and that would allow me to move the car quickly.
I plan on using the following parts on the car:

A new 347 stroker motor
cobra intake
pin drive halibran wheel replicas
tremec tko tranny (new)
96-98 cobra (mustang) brakes & rear end.

I also plan on spending the right money for an excellent paint job. What would be a good price for a car like the one I've described? All opinions welcomed and wanted.

Depending on how much money you have, there is a good chance you will either go crazy or broke about the time you start on the third one.

It has been said before the amount of labor that goes into putting one of these cars together, even at minimum wage is something you could ever recover when you sell them...

Probably between $50K (for an FFR) up to $89K (for a basic turnkey Upstates Daytona) completed.

Email:

- fact5racer for more details on the FFR Coupe.
- CoupeBill for more details on Upstates (he owns the co.)

FYI...there is not a lot of $$$ to be made as an independent builder by the time you add all the labor costs as well as crunch the #'s on some of the equipment you're talking about using.

The above replies pretty well cover it. There was a letter in one of the street rod magazines about a year ago from some builder in Southern Calif. complaining to the magazine about their coverage of the street rods and they never mention the time and labor involved. He said he had many people bring in magazines and want a car built exactly like that one for $40,000 dollars and with the overhead and labor and all the parts he had to get he couldn't begin to built one that cheap. He also told them to not forget the parts that they had given to them and the ones they took from work. Most of us don't think about the hours and parts we buy to put on the cars and they really add up in a hurry.
