Question Coupe exhaust hangers

How effective were the original style exhaust hangers, I stole this pic off of chucks website(thanks Chuck!).

I am struggling to get the pipes lined up and where to I think they will last.

Any ideas?

Sorry that I'm not any help, but do most coupe owners connect those side pipes?? How do they sound. I remember reading somewhere that they made the coupes sound like a rusting pile of sh*t!!!???

Scott,

The originals were very effective. Chuck's are different than the ones on my old car though. I sent Chuck drawings of how mine were done. First off, the idea of welding the two together is very good, however the originals were bolted together. I welded them on the car, that I sent you pictures of. The thing is weld them on the back side of the mufflers, not the side that shows.
Chuck has also made a more restrictive rear hanger. The originals used only the two springs to locate the end of the muflers. This is so the system could move slightly to handle engine torquing and chassis flex. The only place each side was bolted down was to the head. If you have a Fax number, I will send you the drawing I did for Chuck.
