Date: Saturday, March 16, 2002 Time: 10:00 AM Place: Gather at the Pickens County Airport . My father keeps a hangar here and has plenty of room for unloading and parking car trailers, if you wish to tow. See map above. Agenda:
Attendees so far: Keith & Elizabeth McFarland (excelguru) Jason & Wendy Patrick (patrija) Chip Bering (Chip) Jerry Witt (doubleclutch) David Crace & wife (skeeter) Greg Buck (GB) Jeff Neely Mike Geng (Toy Collector) Bill Baker (BILL) - Maybe Tom Murphy (Brown Trout) - Maybe If it rains: Noooooooo!!!!! Seriously, we can meet anyway (in normal cars) and drive to Two Brother's Barbecue (it's closer) for lunch. Then we can eat barbecue, trade "fish stories" about beating Porsches, and complain about the rain. Keith :) |
Keith, this sounds good to me. I will have to run it past my little lady, as I will have a one to two week old at home. Whatever you guys come up with will be good. I don't mind any kind of drive, as the cold has not slowed me down to much. I still get my car out about three times a week.
Keep me posted, Jeff Neely. Oh yeah, did you get my check yet. |
Sounds good to me, but may not have my car then. Working wih SA on a fuel problem....
I'll let you know. Jason |
I'm game
Jeff, congrats on the pending new addition to the family. Hope all goes well.
My Cobra is at SA for a tune-up (hopefully that's all it is). Hauled it down last week and hope to retrieve it by Saturday. I would be game for this as well--weather and "the boss" allowing. My right wrist is in a cast so involved driving is somewhat trying. Of course that didn't stop me from trying to go to AMS this weekend for the WorldCarz event--which unfortunately got rained out  |
Hey Mike,
If you need a chauffeur, I just might know someone... ;) Keith :) |
I recieved an email from Chip Bering that he will attend the luncheon. I also got an email from David Crace that he would try to attend as well. David will get back to me to confirm it. They were both having problems logging onto CC.
Keith :) |
The beast lives!!!!
My fuel problem turned out to not be the pump, but a free spinning eccentric on the cam. The bolt head had actually loosened to the point of grinding and cracking the timing cover. John from SA, being the SUPER folks they are, came to the house yesterday and today and we are now all set. Count us in for the 16th! Jason |
Please see the map attached to the first post in this thread.
Yes, I'm afraid there is a very short section of gravel road leading to the hangars (sorry). It's only about two hundred feet or so. When traveling north on 575, the interstate will change names to 515 at some point... same piece of concrete, just a different name. Please don't hesitate to call me if you get lost or have mechanical problems. What time should we gather??? Keith :) |
time
How about 10:00 or 10:30. That gives time for someone to be a little late, still mingle a few minutes and then head up to lunch. More importantly it gives me a chance to trade keys with Keiths dad for a trip around the pattern befor lunch. If you guys want to do it earlier or later thats fine with me as well. As Keith say's this time is strictly set in sand.
Jeff Neely |
Keith,
Looking forward to meeting you and some of the other local cobra guys. Sounds like this will be a fun outing see you in about a week. GB |
Jason, glad to hear your car is finally sorted out. :) :)
Now they can finally get to mine !!! :p :p |
dare I ask?
|
time
10:00 am sounds good to me. My wife will probably be copilot because we are heading to Barnsley Gardens later in the day. I guess that means I will have to be on my best behavior on those mountain roads :( Keith, you might want to do something about the weather forcast
|
10:00 AM it is.
Keith :) |
Jason,
I assume you wanted to know what was up with the car? Ignition hasn't been right for some time, may be MSD box or something. Wanted them to give it a spring checkup and sort it out. |
I've modified the original post for clarity and to include a list of attendees. Hope you get the electricals worked out in time, Mike.
No rain! No rain! No rain! Keith :) |
Mike - Hope it works out!
Keith - Wendy and I are defnitely in, assuming you can keep your weather gods friendly. |
Weather
I hope it works out. I have been given the ok by my little lady's. The weather folks have given Saturday a very good chance of rain in the North Georgia area. I don't care about a chance of rain. I will be there as long as it still say's chance. I have a great rain suite, and as long as I am driving only my back gets wet. What I realy want to do is get that plane off the ground. Keith is your fathers plane I.R.F. certified. If it's not, the rain does't scare me the back end just comes out better.
Hope the weather hold's, Jeff Neely. |
Let me think a minute... he sold his 172 which I know was IRF... he currently has the two Luscombes (one 8A and one 8E). It seems like the 8E might be IRF... I'm just about certain the 8A is not.
After lunch you might be interested in dropping by my dad's place and seeing his 195 restoration project. He lives about 15 or 20 minutes from the airport. I have a picture of his 195 engine in my photo gallery. I was happy to see it raining here this morning. It can rain all it wants up until Saturday morning, in my opinion. Keith :) |
Got my car back today--so I am also set to go. Yours truly bent a push rod which explains a lot of why it ran the way it did. I again need to commend Southern Automotive for their support. Keith, they mentioned they were starting machine work on your baby!!! I want to be there the day it comes to life!! "Like a baby being born" as Bill would say!! I also got another cast today that now doesn't let me move my thumb :(
Keith, we also should run through last minute stuff for the DSCC meeting. |
