Default Reptile Roundup Nov 7-8 in Starke, FL

Who is planning on driving up from South Florida to the Reptile Roundup this November. The new track in Starke is supposed to be wild. 2.0 miles, with 16 curves and includes "hills" and banked turns. It is 360 miles north of my home in Miami and I'm driving my ERA up. I'm trying to get my buddy Garcia to commit to take his Unique up - and it would be great to caravan with a group the day before. I believe there is a 2 day "drivers school" or open track event. Still waiting for the final packet and the initial sign up date is reportedly Sept. 1. This track should be a blast. Richard - you will be in Orlando by then - why not bring your Kirkham FIA (Jenny)? We can meet you in transit!!! Blueman - get that Backdraft ready for a ride! Deadbeatle - are YOU in?? Let me know guys so we can get a good southern contingent put together to support this great event in an outstanding new venue. Rick. (Garcia - don't worry about rain - I will BUY you a golf umbrella for any stopping that is required during a storm - just buy a cover for overnight).

Rick,
I'm in for sure, for the whole event. We are in Jupiter, four or five of us are coming up.
I think there is a caavan coming up from the Boynton area on the Saturday morning for the show too.
Cheers,
Richard Bailey

I haven't looked at the exact dates yet, but I believe the first track day is a Thursday, so we'd probably head up on Wednesday, spend the night, and be fresh for some fun Thursday morning.

I'm looking forward to driving up to the Roundup. I'd be interested in learning more about the Driving School seeing that this is the first time i've ever seen a track! Also, I hear from JayB that it's best to trailer your car in case something breaks at the track. i don't have a trailer so I guess I'll be a watcher not a racer. Sounds like fun though.

Ralph. There are quite a few who will be driving up and tracking their cars, including me. I don't have a trailer. I took my Unique FIA to th '05 Roundup and we did something like 150 laps on the Gainesville Speedway track in the 2 day high performance driving school. Remember you are not racing - there is no passing - you are running hot laps to your own speed. A pace car will wave you by, and you run at your speed - when you catch up to the pack you stay behind the pace car until you get another wave by (pace car runs at 60% speed more or less). It's a chance to go through the gears and be as aggressive as you want. Generally there are two groups - those with racing slicks on who generally run 'hotter', and those with street tires. Rick

I'll be there for sure

Robert and I discussed flying down and renting a Mustang from HERTZ....

There is no drivers school but the track will run a beginner group.
This group will have "no passing".
The other groups will have limited passing areas.
It's going to be a blast at the new venue.
I hope you guys continue to go there. In the mean time, I'll be checkingg out Road America!!!

The family and I are presently in Champagne, IL at a campground.
We will be arriving at our new home tomorrow.
As soon as we get our new internet service installed I'll post more info.
Till then, Larry our secretary should be able to answer any questions you guys have.

Registration for the track events are OPEN.
Please visit the DSCC store via our web site to place your order.
We need to have all the registrations in by October 1st!!!

Cheers,
Ed
