Car show
I'm new to all this but am looking to start building in December. Would like to come to the car show at Don Garlits Museum with wife and kids to let them experience the excitment that a cobra brings to me. What time will this event kick off at the Museum. THanks Scot

Scot,
The car show will kick off at 9:00 am on Saturday. Ed |

David,
It was good to talk to you last night. I'll dig up the info for the gas station with the racing fuel for you. Ed |
Hey Ed and David,
I'm assuming that you are looking for the station in Gainesville with rading fuel. There is only one that I know always has it available. Oddly, it's not even close to the track. It's a Speedway that is located on US441/13th Street. It's about 5 miles north on 441 from the intersection of NW 39th and NW 13th/US441. It is located on the east side of the road across from the BMW dealership. I think there may be one other place that occasionally has racing fuel available, but they tend to only carry it around GatorNationals I believe. I don't get down that side of town often, but I have to go there this weekend. I'll verify that it is available, and I'll check for other places in town. As with any other things for people that are coming to Gainesville for the first time, please let me know if you are looking for things in town since I live here. |
There is a gas station in Bushnell.
I think the exit is #314. Speedway gas station on the West side of I-75. They have race fuel. Ed FFR1997K |
Racing fuel in Gainesville
Took a bit longer to get by the station, but it is the
SpeedWay on US441/13th Street on the north side of Gainesville. Currently the price for the gas is $3.79/gal and the only thing on the pump said it was "Cam2" type fuel. Hope that helps anyone who needs race fuel. |
Thanks David this is trully helpfull, now I just need 3 more coming up from PSL Port Saint Lucie. I'll find!

There's a station in Ocala that has a numerous selection of high octane gas. I fuel up my hog there. I'm new to Clubcobra, but have been reading the message board for 6 or 7 months gathering info. I recently met Reg in Lauderdale to check out a backdraft car. Last week I met Roy Hunt in Las Vegas to check out the CSX 7000. I'm in the process of narrowing my selection down. I live in Ocala, and I'm looking forward to November. If anyones solo or needs a copilot, I'd jump at the chance. I'd like to get to meet some of the club members and reaaly check out some cars to help narrow my selection.

David A. Malone:
I live in Port St. Lucie. My sons keep teeling me about a "Cobra" they've been seeing around town. I've had my eyes peeled for weeks now but have not spotted it yet. I'd like to get a gander at your SPF one of these days and maybe have the wife present when I do so that maybe some of the fever will rub off on her. Bill |
Bring the Wife
Bill V.
Bring the wife (and son too) up to the Reptile Roundup in a few weeks. There will be plenty of Cobras (incl. several SPF's) for the both of you to check out. A good time for comparison of the various types of manuf. %/ Check the schedule of events for timing. The "Really Big Show" on Saturday at Don Garlits' Museum would probably be the best time to talk with some of us about our cars. See ya there! TL :MECOOL: |
TL
Sure thing. It's been penciled in my calendar ever since I read about it here on CC a few weeks ago. Thanks. |
I'm writing checks to DSCC like crazy.
This one is for: 2 - dinners Sat. nite 2 - Admissions for the museum 2 - T-shirts TL :MECOOL: Please everyone, get your money into Ruble for these items NOW, so they can have an accurate head count for dinner and shirts. ;) |
Bill,
My event is only "penciled" in? Aw come on man, break out the pen! You cant miss this event. So many Cobra's in one place.... Seriously thought, thanks to all who have e-mailed or phoned me and supported this event. I hope it turns out well for all of us. Since the DSCC does not charge membership fee's, this is the only means we have to generate funds for the club. I feel sorry for Ruble who will be making "DAILY" trips to the bank to deposit all these checks and keep track of who's paid what! Good thing his wife works at the bank! See you all in < 3 weeks! Ed FFR1997K |
OK Ed, I see your point so I broke out the pen. Actually, I booked for myself and my wife and child two nights at one of the hotels in Ocala so it's a done deal. I can't wait to go. See y'all there.

Track set up?
Are we going to set up that track Thursday? Just trying to get an idea of time we need to leave if so.
Suggestion: Let's try the double turn-in cones like they had for us at Sebring for the new guys. The track has plenty of cones for us to use. I think it will make the course alittle easier for the 1st timers. And, maybe keep "Ed" out of the water.   2 weeks and counting :3DSMILE: TL:MECOOL: |
Speaking of Ed and water, does anyone need some pictures
of the swimming Cobra? |

You live in Ocala and you have not met Randy Hunter? His shop is in Ocala and you need to stop by and see one of his cars. Better yet come to the Reptile Roundup and see Randy and several of his cars. He has let a few local people build their cars in his shop so you would have access to tools you would never afford and have his expert advise handy. |
aumoore, I have driven by Hunters shop on a couple of occasions, it appeared the shop was closed up on the times I drove by. Maybe I'll check his place out before the roundup. I know one person in town that has one of his cars and I even drove it. If anyone ends up with out a place to stay, I've got plenty of space. I also have a big secure garage if anyone needs to do some work. I'm not some kind of weirdo, just a cobra nut. That's the same hospitality I offer to my Harley friends.
