Default Retireing to North Florida !

Hi guys,
I'll be retireing in a year, to a little hick fishing town called Steinhatchee, on the NW side of the state, in the Big Bend area. Anybody heard of it ? I'll be looking to hook up with some fellow Cobraphiles when I get down there. Was just wondering if anybody lives nearby . We already have a house there and try to get down every few months to keep the boat gas fresh. If anybody's into fishing and boating, in addition to Cobras, I'd love to have some company. I just recently completed my FE powered FFR MK III after selling my first Everette Morrison Bowtie powered Cobra. Look forward to being part of the Deep South Madness !

Tom

Ratsnake,
Welcome, actually we have a lot of members located all over Florida but if you really want to get out of that northern weather the reason to move south in the first place you have to locate south of Tampa at least.

Default Welcome Ratsnake

Ratsnake, Steinhatchee is a quiet town in the middle of nowhere but it sounds like that is what you want. It is not a far drive to the Gainesville area where the track is however. Also if you don't know about bay scallops I suggest you learn. Steinhatchee is the Florida caplital for scallops. Ez to catch but it takes about a six pack per 5 gal. bucket of scallops to clean them.

Hey Murphy and Dan,
Thanks for the advice ! Dan, you're right , if I wanted to be alot warmer, I'd have gone further south. Where we're going I think it'll be a little warmer but alot less conjested than where I am now and just about any other "water oriented" town in Fla. I don't mind having to drive 30 or so miles (especially in the cobra) to get to civilization ! I'm commuting 65 miles each way now into the DC area from the mountains, to get to work.

Murphy, already aware of the scallops and you're right on about the six pack a bucket to clean 'em ! They're a blast ! The fishing's pretty good there too ! Love them grouper ! We've had property and my boat there for a couple of years and have been visiting every 3 months, or so, with our RV. We just recently got the house completed in preparation for our move next Sept. !Can't wait !!! Look forward to meeting you guys and spending some time over in Gainesville !

Tom
