Had a gas leak issue and a suspension issue that the folks at Suncoast Cobra fixed for me. Other than that she runs like a dream. Ran into a DSCC member today at Tampa Motorsports, (I think that is the name of the place) Thanks for your time, as I know you were there shopping for something else.

Anyone have thoughts on power steering? She's just tearing up my left shoulder.

An original Mini !!!! :)

Driven many a mile in one, and a good few corners looking out the side windows at where we were going

Very nice BDR too !!!!

I really like the look of those air filters - but I've heard that the foam in them can be a fire risk.

Tell us more about the blower. I'm amazed it clears the hood.

FST FOX 01-15-2008 06:09 PM

clean ride any power numbers

Tim Brewer 01-15-2008 07:39 PM

Yes, tell us about that blower. I've never seen a roots blower under the hood of a Cobra befor. And by the way, sharp car!

Tangible Toys 01-16-2008 05:56 PM

It is a 174 series Weiand, with an s.c. holley carburator,it was pretty much a bolt on unit, the only problem was the crankshaft bolts, they were to short, but found some locally to complete.Keep in mind the engine needs certain specs to utilize the boost,in this case it is the smallest 302 ford racing crate engine, but pulls great!!!!!!!!!! You will need to use a lower mount alt bracket. It should be about 495h.p. according to Weiands results!
I am working on power steering as we speak,I have all the pump brackets done, just working on the steering shaft and rack brackets.

Nice car also amazed that everything fit under hood, did you already have charger or purchase it to complete engine as I have never seen one done like that.. cool

ztarum 01-17-2008 06:26 AM

I know little about Ford engines. Would a similar set-up work on a 351W or would there be clearance problems?

Tangible Toys 01-17-2008 06:38 AM

Good morning ztarum,
the windsor is a taller and yes it would have clearance problems, but only with the filter, but with some time and patience an air cleaner could be made.

I got her right from Suncoast Cobra as is.

I have heard to watch for issues with the foam. I will likely be pulling it off and cleaning it regularly while I await finding another option for the cleaner. I am willing to hear good sales pitches on this as I have heard other bad stuff about that filter as well. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/me...ml#post4966550

I am QUITE interested in power steering as this ride is torture on my left shoulder.

Thanks for the compliments on the Mini. She is an engine swap 155HP MONSTER. I need to get her weighed to see what the power to weight is, but it is sure to be nice. Here is where there is more details on her. Some pics are old and not working anymore, but many are still there and working fine. http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/me...7-my-mini.html

Well with this years taxes I am thinking I may be willing to part with my Cobra for a reasonable offer. If you have one let me know. She drives fantastic save that without powersteering I pay for days after driving her any length of time.

Good evening Xanthus,
sorry to see her go,she was a great build and runs out great!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that you could keep it until the power steering was done! Glad you liked the performance I gave you!!!!!!

It's tax time, kinda have a bunch spent on toys this year. I do love the car, but I know the wiser thing is to not refuse any reasonable offer. That said yeah, she runs great, save that after driving her home I was paying with a tore up shoulder for a week. I will likely not get an offer I find reasonable immediately so I am just getting the word out in case someone is really interested in getting my attention and really wants my Cobra. That said I am also offering up my Mini for the same reasons. I may choose to get a cheaper toy or tie both sums together for one toy and one insurance cost.

I know if both sell I want one of these:

Hey go on our web site and see the one we service, the Atom is a great ride!!!!!!!!!!

Got the Bug 02-22-2008 08:59 PM

I'm sure that Atom is a kick in the pants to drive, but it has to be one the most butt ugly cars I've ever seen. :JEKYLHYDE

trularin 02-23-2008 07:07 AM

Great pictures!

Congrats, she truly is a stunning car.

Xanthus 02-24-2008 11:23 PM

Nice.

Any advice on how to get my Cobra to not be so brutal on my shoulders over a long distance?
