aumoore, glad to see the increase in participants! Since the number on my car is 13, I won't worry about that number (born on Friday 13th). I sent in the contract for the rooms to Hampton Inn. We must book by Sept. 20. or give them up, so we have a while, but I wouldn't wait too long just to be safe.
I will be booking restaurants for Friday night and Saturday nights, as well as, a caterer for lunch at the track. They gave me a big list at Hampton Inn. I'll post these as soon as we know the final choices. Why can't I run my Vette? Probably becuase it won't be there! it says in the owners manual - "NO TOWING" - This vehicle was not designed to tow a trailer! Shucks! Jerry |
Hi,
I might like to come, since you have changed the date. Would it be alright if I brought something other than a cobra ? I have a special little car that I think would do well. It is an ugly little yellow car, mechanically similar to a cross between a Corvair and a Ford pinto, but I would like to give it a try.........any thoughts ? Do I even have a chance at a good lap time with this car ? It has 150 + - horsepower...I don't really know...., but I think it would be tough to beat (competitive attitude is a must at one of these events). J.W. |
John, there is nothing wrong with not running a cobra, but , the track manager doesn't want any "all-out race cars". All cars MUST be street legal with street legal tires and pipes. This was stressed when we signed up for the track. As long as you meet this criteria, bring them on!
Jerry |
All the cars are accounted for, Brian Hinson has a Pontiac Trans Am WS6, and Ron Hasenbuhler has an FFR. John Woerheide bring on your Hummer.

Sounds like this event is really shaping up. I may bring an extra car, my y2k Porsche C-4, just to see how well old school stands up to new school. Jerry, bring on the vette.

Bring on all the cars you like, but, remember, one-one driver-one entry fee. Fell free to enter all you want! We have a long way to 24 with 11 openings so far.
Jerry |
entry #14 is Tom Burgess but I need some info on him like e-mail, phone# and car description.

Policy if it rains is - Run Anyway! I asked them this and they said if it rained "really bad", we would talk about it. But a lot of us are spending more to get there and back plus hotel rooms, that makes the track cost look pretty small by comparison - moral is - Pray for Sunshine!

Gainesville event
Jerry;
How do I sign up for a slot in your event??? I only just learned of your organization (at the SAAC meeting in Charlotte). As I live in Gainesville, I'll for sure be there! Please reply ASAP to gkmatthew@aol.com Thanks |
Jerry,
I don't know if you got all my info. Cobra is Dark Blue with white stripes ERA with a 427 Side -Oiler. I opened this thread for the first time and noticed that cars other than cobra's are allowed to run. I'll bet my wife will want to run her Corvette. Allowed? Also, Are you allowing multiple drivers for each of the 24 cars entered? By my calculations, with only one car on the track at a time, and a 2 mile track, the number of laps per car starts to get pretty low if there are more than 24 drivers.. Am I misunderstanding the way this is being run? Looking forward to it! Tom Burgess |
I think we are limiting the # of cars to 24 so each will have enough track time. If you bring two drivers or two cars you will count as two and have to pay two fees.
Remember NO ALL OUT RACE CARS. |
oops... somehow posted on wrong thread. :o

JERRY--
JUST GOT AROUND TO BOOKING MY ROOM FOR THE EVENT, THANKS FOR WORKING SO HARD TO PUT IT TOGETHER. THINK YOU BOUGHT ENOUGH NEW HORSEPOWER??? IS THERE EVER ENOUGH? I'M WORRIED ABOUT TRACTION NOW, NEVER A PROBLEM BEFORE! SEE YOU SOON, RICK |
Few More Spots Open
There are a few more spots open for the track. Deposits must be in by Sept. 15th, 2001. 15 are firm with ten spots still open!

Guys you are running out of time. Come on you can only wax that paint so many times before you have to actually drive the cobra.**) |
