Hello,
I got to go up the the hospital again to see my dad. I was fortunate enough to get my dad to read the messages on a labtop you all posted. Unfortunaly, Ruble was not able to type this message to you all. He wants to let eveyone know that he is so overwhelmed at reading all the comments you posted. He started crying at the first two replys and by the end of reading it all, he couldn't describe his feelings to me on the way he felt. I would hope this encouraged him at getting better and hopefuly some day he can again join you guys for some more "trash talking fun". Thank you guys for helping encourage my dad to get better soon and understand how much you mean to him.

Jason,
Thanks for the up date on your Dad, please keep us aware of his progress to recovery as we are all pulling for him.

This is all good news!!!

Jason,
Thanks for the update - is your dad still in the hospital or has he been moved to a rehab facility? It sounds as if he is responsive to conversation and possible reading - this is big! Like I said before, rehab after a stroke is a long process; the biggest mistake many patients make is trying to do much too soon. Many stroke victims want to make the body function the way it use to, but the brain isn't ready to co-operate, it just takes time.

Ruble, keep up the good work, you have many friends that are praying for you, and keeping you in our thoughts every day.

Dscc members;
When the time is right, let's plan a trip to the panhandle to visit our friend; cobras and all! Jason, please keep us posted when your dad is ready to meet and greet his old Cobra buddies. Maybe will even invite Johan and Spiderman.

Jason,
He IS the same person, the body is just changing a bit. Cherish the man & your time together. I love my dad like theres no tomorrow- we are blessed to have men like these in our lives, because so many dont.
Prayers are with you both.

I talked to Debbie and they are moving Ruble to Debbies mom's home for out patient therapy last Friday. His speech is much better but he still cannot move his right arm. Ruble is able to go bed to chair and back to bed so his progress is coming along. I think all our prayers are working-keep it up. Ruble way to go.

Hey Ruble,

Glad to hear you're making progress! Keep up the workouts as hard as you are able, and take as much of the therapy as you can stand (no pun intended).

Keep us posted on your status, please.

Tom

Jason,
I am happy to hear that your Dad is out of the hospital and doing therapy. Please give him my best and tell him we wnat to see him back driving ASAP. If there is anything we can do, please let us know. Where can we send him cards?
Jerry

Johan 03-03-2009 08:26 PM

Be sure to get him the right card . The Valentines day love notes are right next to the Get Well soon cards. About the same distance as diesel from premium...

Jason,

Is there another Ruble update? Let us know!

Hi Ruble,

Hope you're putting your heart into therapy and are doing much better. It's amazing how well your body can heal if you put your mind into it. A little mind over matter I guess. They say healing is all about your attitude and positive thinking. Like an Olympic workout I image - no pain, no gain workouts.

I sure hope we'll see you again soon at one of our NWF car events. Stay in touch.

Hey Jason,

How about a Ruble update? We missed him at the 24 Heures!

Regards,

Tom

I sent Jason an email and I'm posting his response on his Fathers condition and I'm also sure Jason would like to get a few emails from others.

I am not able to go to club cobra at this time. I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan for 7 months right at this very moment. The last i heard was he is sick with the flu. He is improving everyday and talks better too. I talked to him a week ago and he still has his times where he says something and it doesn't come out right. So i have to guess what he is trying to say or tell him to get back with me another time. He uses a four legged cain to walk around with and no longer uses the wheel chair that he first started off with. He is still in therapy in Phenix city ALstaying at my moms mother house. My mom is with him so she can give me more details while I'm deployed. I like this deployment so far and we got here almost a month ago. It gets pretty hot here during the day and at night it's still pretty hot but a lot more bearable. I think the last temp recorded was 120 degrees the other day. I don't get much internet time so I will let you go, but hope to hear from you again i nthe near future. Also, my mom has my deployed adress, so you will have to call her and get it if you want to send anything to me. Her number is 850-291-0082 (the house number 850-995-4994 no longer exists anymore, so use my dads cell phone or my moms cell #).

How is Ruble doing ? Anybody know ?

Jerry Cowing 02-22-2010 05:22 PM

Ruble doing well

Ruble attended a Panhandle Road Rally we had last weekend. He is doing well and recovering nicely. Here's a picture from the rally.

Oh, well I give up. Can't get the 106 KB picture down to the 39.1 required of this web site. Sorry.
