April????????????

Jerry,
We have April 12-13-14, April 19-20-21, and April 26-27-28,2002.
If it's not warm enough then, the following year you can have down by me. Friday is going to be the day most will be getting in to the Atlanta area and I think it would be nice if we all had dinner together some place, and meet each other face to face. I'll need a room for all 3 nights and leave on Monday morning. I hope when you meet with the Atlanta guys you get the date set so we can make plans.

April works...

April works fine for me, and yes, it will be a little nicer than March for the Atlanta area. (Man, we're never gonna live down that whole blizzard thing. )

People will indeed be arriving throughout Friday, so a dinner would probably be best. And people are probably gonna be tired of driving by that point.

Saturday would be the busy day. I'm picturing a show-and-shine and lunch at Bill's followed by the previously mentioned back-country drive which would also serve as a poker run. Hmm... is there an Outback Steakhouse in McDonough for dinner?

Having breakfast on Sunday sounds like a marvelous idea to me (anything involving food sounds like a marvelous idea to me! ).

Jerry Rowley
When do you plan to be in the Atlanta area? I'm due to see the folks again soon. Maybe you, Mike, and I can get together to discuss this stuff in person. Gimme a call if you need to. (803) 243-8220.

Keith

Keith I'll call you before I come. I find out today which days I'll be in McDonough to get my new engine. S/b August toward later part. I'll call Bill this afternoon and repost then.

MRITTER 07-25-2001 07:56 AM

Mid to late April or anytime in May would be good for us. Rain and cold is a factor for those of us with no top or heater but with a little luck the weather will be good.

jerry rowley 07-25-2001 02:46 PM

Keith, still haven't gotten to talk to Bill.

Not downplaying the airport for the meet or anything, because there would be all kinds of area for our cars, but Southern Automotive, with Bill in charge has been real helpful to us Cobra people. It would be good for us and good advertisment for Southern Automotive to pay Bill back a little for all he has done for us. Of course I am bias I have one of his engines in my car :-) .

Mike:cool:

excelguru 07-26-2001 05:28 AM

Jerry
No problem. No hurry.

eticket
I definitely wanna provide Bill with some publicity. (I'm a little biased, too, as you can see from my signature below.) It's not looking like we'll be able to fit an airport run into the schedule anyway.

Wouldn't you know it? My lawnmower decides to die one week after my wife and I decide to start burying my paychecks (see my "business owners" thread in the All Cobra Talk section). I guess that's the way it goes  .

ToyCollector 07-26-2001 07:40 AM

Was with Bill yesterday

Went to Southern Auto yesterday and drooled all over Brownyards engine

After relooking at his place with the thought of the meet, it is perfect. Plenty of parking, his wife Susan is on board as well. April is definitely better than March. It is a very short ride (3-5 miles) from several hotels (which are close to Highway) to the shop. Center of McDonough has some nice non-chain restaurants and shops. McDonough is still "country" so our Cobras won't be subjected to excessive stop and go.

CobraDan 07-26-2001 10:14 AM

Mike,
If your going to get together in McDonough you might want to include W.D.Goldsmith a DSCC member with 2 SPF, although one is for sale. With all you toy collectors and great minds I hope you come up with a fantastic event. I don't want to travel 700 miles for nothing. We will need a date set, for our second annual meeting from you gentlemen. Have a great day and meeting.

Dan

jerry rowley 07-26-2001 02:15 PM

Keith, I'll be in McDonough on the 13th of August and the 14th. Either day or evening would good for us to get together. Louis says I may have to go back to driving school after the new engine! Keith, please call the other guys in the area and see which date & time is good for all. Maybe we can have dinner somewhere there. I'll stay at the Holiday Inn this time to check it out.

Rick, I understand you may have to do the same! louis says your engine goes in tomorrow! The run in October should be a lot of fun.

A cruise along Richard Russel Senic Parkway would be good. Helen, GA is a popular alpine village in the mountains. It even has an outlet mall for the ladies**)

I hope to be finished with my project by then.

ToyCollector 07-30-2001 10:45 AM

Depending on my new role at the company I am at, I may have to fly to Paris for a meeting on the 14th, but I hope to make dinner if you are in town Jerry. I will know more this week.

excelguru 07-31-2001 12:00 PM

I'm looking into the 13th and 14th dates. I'll let you know later this week if I can make it then. Between the two, the 13th would be the easiest for me.

I'll let you know.

If you don't have my cell phone number yet (Toy has it) just email me and I'll send it to you.

Atlanta/McDonough Meeting

The 13th for dinner works for me. We will get there in late AM and drop off the car to Bill. I'll see if he and Susan can join us if you like. Look forward to meeting you both.

Jerry--

Hell, I needed to go back to driving school BRFORE the new motor, now I'll need it for sure.

October it is.

Rick

excelguru 08-03-2001 06:59 AM

Jerry, et al.

Is a "long lunch" on the 13th a possibility for you guys? Dinner on the 13th makes it a little more difficult for me, but I still might be able to swing it. Just let me know what works best for you guys. Also, I need some phone numbers from you guys (I lost some of them).

For security reasons, please don't list your numbers here. Just email them to me.

Keith

ToyCollector 08-03-2001 07:30 AM

the Paris trip for me is not on at this point, so I can do the 13th. Keith, I assume it's the drive back that you are concerned about. I could do a lunch or we could do a late afternoon get together and nibble on some wings or something instead of a full dinner. I also offer my house as a place ot convene, or my office which is at Northridge and 400. At this point I'm flexible, but that may change.

-Mike
