Just go with what is appropriate for the model of car.

Lets not get into the whole SB vs. BB on this.

hey, the generosity of the Kirkham's is admirable..and its their donated football and their rules in my book. In that regard, the following was just posted by Tom Kirkham on another thread on CC which is certainly understandable, and explainable . Nothing wrong with an engineless 289 bodystyle in my book , still an OUTSTANDING gesture to the cause . PLEASE NOTE THAT HE IS SOLICITING DONATED PARTS FOR THE CAR AS THEY DID FOR THEIR 9-11 FUND RAISER CAR !! Unfortunately there seems to be several threads on CC re the Kirkham car and it must be difficult for the Kirkhams to follow them all and thus spread the word re 'donations welcome' . Tom's posted message from the other thread follows:

Dear Club Cobra Members,

This year to help with Spring Fling III, David and I, have decided to donate one of our cars to help raise money for Jenny (Cystic Fibrosis). We really appreciate Turk jumping on the bandwagon with all his enthusiasm by posting a picture of ST’s big bad 427 but since CF attacks and kills the small ones in our lives, we think it would be more appropriate if we donated a small block car. So many Club Cobra members don't know that we make a 289 car, that David and I figured that this is good time to show our 289 “cut back door” car.

Like the NYC 9-11 car, we want to make the SF III donation a Club Cobra event that everyone will be proud to be a part of. To get everyone involved we are asking that the Club Cobra members donate parts to this car. Since we are not a charity, donations by individuals to us are not tax deductible.

Because of Federal Law, we cannot provide an engine or transmission. Fortunately, a small block Ford is a relatively inexpensive engine for the lucky new owner to buy.

We will keep you posted of the progress of the car.

Thank you for you help and enthusiasm

Tom Kirkham

Bill!
Thank you for posting this as I missed it the first time around. Lets try this! Since the DVSF IS a charitable event through CF, (and I will check on this) if all donated parts are donated not to KMP but to the DVSF, then they should be tax deductible!

Basically, this means that KMP of course will be able to recoup at least part of their expenses, along with everyone who donates.

I simply need to have anyone who donates whatever to send me a copy of a receipt OR a statement regarding the value of their donation and CF will issue a receipt claiming the same!

DV...It is Christmas every day at the Fling!

Bill Wells 12-24-2002 07:04 AM

NOW, the question of the day is : WHAT' IS THE ADDRESS OF WHERE STUFF / OR $ DONATIONS FOR THE CAR (NOT raffle donations but FOR THE CAR's construction) TO GET MAILED TO ? also,I think Jamo has started a thread to try to get all KMP-III donations /info on one thread vs the entanglement of the octopus tails that now exist ?? Bill.

Edley Rondinone 12-24-2002 05:02 PM

I would LOVE to buy at least one raffle ticket for $100. I am feeling lucky!! So, to whom do we send the check?

Dirty Harry 12-25-2002 02:42 AM

Wow! What a great day for CC, for DVSIII, and for CF research. I am saving my coins now to buy chances for the Kirkham. I think this will really help push the CF donation total way up there. Much praise is due the Kirkham organization for their generosity. Behind Jenny, there are many more children who can benefit. I hope to help out in a big way. I also hope to score a Kirkham. Let's get this winter thing out of the way and move on to June. Merry Christmas to all and God bless the many generous people of the world.

I think winning a left hand drive 289 cobra would look very nice being driven around the streets in Australia. :)

David Kee 12-26-2002 04:06 PM

I talked with Tom Kirkham today.
Make that a complete roller with David Kee 4 speed toploader.

David Kee,
Another great supporter of this sickness we call Cobra Fever.

David,
Thank you so much! Now I ask you to "Please" get in contact with weendoggy@aol.com so he can put you on the new DVSF web site. He will want the highest resolution banner you can provide.

I will also use this for all our printed advertising. Thamk you Mr. Kee!

DVSF - MAC Tools

Hey DV,

I'm a relative minor "poster" here in Club Cobra, and wish I could add more.

BUT,
I do have a really good friend who is the C.F.O. of MAC Tools in Columbus OH, and he said they are looking for events to participate in for 2003.

Would anyone at DVSFIII be interested in having MAC Tools participate in the events, possible corporate sponceship, advertisment, etc.

They have several pro street, modified cars and a monster truck or two.

Just a thought, and would need a contact name & number that I could forward to MAC Tools.

Dan Semko 01-11-2003 10:40 AM

Todd,
What a dynamite idea! What better marriage than between our cobra passion and quality tools.

Two thumbs up for a great suggestion!;)

Todd Hedges 01-11-2003 01:07 PM

MAC Tools

Okay, the friend at MAC is very interested in hearing from the organizers of DVSFIII for all the details.

Let me know if interested.
todd.hedges@snet.net

Thanks

Double Venom 01-11-2003 05:11 PM

TOD,
Don't tease me!

Snap On is also looking at the "Fling", even though our Snappy guy knows all about the Fling, he has only been able to raise a few eyebrows. If "MAC" is interested, of course I am interested in talking to them. With our help, we will make sure that MAC is known internationally as a sponsor of the Fling!

Every body is getting behind the Fling and what it stands for. Guys, past and future sponsors...we are making a difference!
Thank you so much for your help!

DV..we are family!
PS. Todd I dropped you an email.

DaveSemko 01-12-2003 09:11 AM

Hey DV,

What is the running total for contributions we've made to CF? I seem to remember something around 20k from the first year, and I'm sure at least another 10K (?) from the second year. It would be nice to at least double that number this year! Go Get 'em!

rdorman 01-12-2003 09:31 AM

MAC or Snapon

With ever wins out tell them to be sure and bring a stocked tool truck. Need to do a little shopping!

Very exciting times.

Hey DV, what ever happened to the 'event coordinator' (aside from you of course) that we heard about earlier?

Double Venom 01-12-2003 05:33 PM

Dan,
"WE" did better than that! Before expenses, the first year popped $33,000.00 WOW!

Last year we went right to (and maybe over by a few hundred), $44,000.00 Double WOW.

Rick: Seems our "benafactor" for providing extrernal help has been too busy, hasn't got to it, buried with other ventures, just doesn't have the time, Oh-well. With all the help we're getting this year, we're making out OK. I hope. Only time will tell. If I'm run out of town can I hide at your house?

DV..Remember the FLING, but don't forget the cookies! :)

Dan Semko 01-12-2003 06:01 PM

Confusing AGAIN!

DV,
That was my younger brother Dave that posted, I know it's confusing especially since he's the runt of the litter.

Please do us the favor of posting who will be the honored guest to pick the winning ticket on the completed Kirkham. We need someone special especially since we know that Jenny tires easily and will probably be homeward bound before the final drawing.;)

Jamo 01-12-2003 07:20 PM

Dano brings up a valid idea...

Let's start bugging Leno early and often!

Double Venom 01-12-2003 08:08 PM

Damn...Dano', Dave, they all look alike! :)

Dan, you do have an excellent idea. I do have one very excellent idea on who will draw the winning ticket, if he/they are still available. (Been working on "them" for a couple of months now.)

I should know within a couple of weeks if he/them will be available. Don't ask me who he/ them are. If it works everyone will find out Friday night at the Party of all time!

If not...then we do need to find a very special honoree for the momentous occassion. Is it a Cobra owner/wannabe, an individual worth the honor? I don't know you guys tell me.

This of course is assuming that Jenny has headed home by then.

This could be fun. I'm listening...and reading to fast!

DV
