Todd,
Same hotels, without Cross Country! How ever some of the guys have already reserved rooms. Hate to be a downer, but if you haven't reserved CC, good!
DV...We're working on the agenda as we speak! ;)

I have 2 rooms reserved at the Cross Country already. I have stayed there for DVSFI, DVSFII, and DVSFIII and have had no problems. What seems to be the concerns over CC.

DV, I gather from what you are saying that the other two hotels are the same ones as last year minus the CC. Will there be enough room in just the two hotels?

Paul basically we are boycotting CC. However, so many guys have already reserved for Fling IV, it may be a little late. We are working with three other hotels across the street, and of course the new Days Inn is right next door. Not to worry, you come we WILL have the hotels.

Problems with CC since DVSF 1: They over booked every year especially II and III, forcing some of our family to go to their other hotel north of the main one. Not a big deal, it's only 9 miles up I-270, BUT...the Hampton and Fairfield still had rooms available. The CC was supposed to keep us abreast of registrations so we would know if they were filling up. They never did, not once, even when I would call they would tell me they had "X" number of rooms left when in fact they had been filled for weeks.

They over charged many of our members, then to top it off I found out they were making serious charges to some peoples credit cards . In fac they charged one of our members for an extra day, phone calls etc., and when it was brought to their attention by that member they at first refused to refund his money....until he proved to them he wasn't even there!

Lot of other problems that didn't go public, and "we" just don't need to give them our business.

If you reserved at CC for this year I still love ya! ;)

DV..."WE" are family and you don't mess with my family!

DV, thanks for the info. Have you got a number for the new Holiday Inn. Is it (HI) real close to the others ? The other hotels have their parking lots right next to each other, it makes for easy visiting and gawking at all the cars.

Paul

No Holiday Inn close by to the main hotels, but if you want to get away from the maddening crowds and the party's :3DSMILE: there is a HI-Express in London that a few guys stay at.

Heres a link to the hotels and their phone numbers:

Our great web guru, Tom, has just put up a color overhead view of the location too! The Hampton is their, it just isn' marked.

If CC has been causing trouble for the last three years I think we should try and get those that have already made reservations to change to the other Motels and leave CC a message where it hurts, in the pocket book.

Dan,
Thank you for volunteering! :)
Maybe spread the word at FF?
DV

CobraDan 01-08-2004 05:47 AM

Ed,
It's posted I hope it works. I also hope the people that have already made reservations at CC move to the other Motels so we can keep them all in line.

We had a big discussion in CACC about the CC Inn. As a group, we've stayed there all three years, and NONE of us (20+ rooms each year), have had a single problem. It sucks that some folks got overcharged, cancelled, whatever. But not all of us have had bad experiences. When all the "news" about boycotting the CC came out, most of us already had reservations there. We decided to be the black sheep and stay there again this year. **) **) :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Party on.

Does anyone know if the Fairfield is booked up yet? I know it's only January, but I really figure that this year, as people are leaving DVSF IV, they're (ok we're) going to be setting up camp for DVSF V.....

I just reserved a room earlier today at the Hampton. I called the Fairfield and they said they were full for that weekend! What more do I need to do now that I have a hotel? Do I need to register or something with DV?

Double Venom 01-08-2004 08:02 PM

I've said it before, many times but you guys never ceae to amaze me! You know, we normally don't fill up one hotel until at least March. Heck, the Mrs., Miss, & DV Jr. really don't get up to our elbows in this until at least the end of Feb. Last year we had to start around December, this year we actually had to start the Monday after III.

This is an amazing event you allow us to put on. It is simply mind boggeling.

I'm rambeling....yes you will need to register. We'll tell you when the site is up and ready!

About 6 weeks out

DV,
One other option for people, especially those who are trailering, if the hotel complex is sold out... There are tons of other hotels within a 10-15 minute drive. You can leave your trailer and Cobra in the main hotel complex lot or Wal-Mart at the end of the day/night and drive your tow vehicle to the hotel. That's what my wife and I did last year. We, including our little bambino (only 10 weeks until he's born :D :D ) are planning to do the same thing again this year. That way, your Cobra and trailer are safe, and you can still take part in all the activities. So finding a place to stay should be no problem.

We're tweeking our chocolate chip cookie recipe! ;)

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! The Fairfield is booked! I guess I got in just in time!
Rick

Double Venom 01-09-2004 06:52 AM

Once again....getting rooms IS NOT A PROBLEM. Even if everyone cancelled Cross Country and left them empty for that weekend therer are, and we have hundreds of rooms arranged in the same block.

I have been told countless times, that a lot of the fun is that everyone gets together at the hotels after we turn them loose. No need to start wandering all over Columbus for rooms, unless of course you do want peace and quiet ;)

DV...YOU come to the Fling for peace and quiet? :) Klayfish and his Mrs. ARE the exception, and now we know why...giggle,giggle!

snakebit99 01-13-2004 12:28 PM

Fairfield Inn

Just snagged two double rooms at the Fairfield Inn...they still have a few rooms available but are filling up fast. Better hurry, see ya at the Fling!

$63.00 with Seniors discount..being old does have some advantages.

Mike Braatz 01-13-2004 01:03 PM

ALL;
HOW MUCH ARE YOU GUYS BEING CHARGED AT THE FAIRFIELD????

THE ROOMS I RESERVED ARE $70.30 ----- WITH AAA DISCOUNT --
I'VE HEARD SOME PEOPLE ARE ONLY BEING CHARGED $50.00.

I WOULD THINK THE RATES WOULD BE THE SAME--

PLEASE LET ME KNOW--

MIKE

rdorman 01-13-2004 03:29 PM

They didn't even tell me how much the room was! Guess I could have asked...........
