Smile Steering & remote oil filter adaptor

Hello Bob, I wanted your awesome advise on two things-
#1- Should I put some heat barrier(like stuff you wrap around starters) around my Steering shaft universal joint which is forward of the driver foot box above the headers ?

#2- I have a remote S/C oil filter adaptor mounted on the water pump. I bought it from Enzo. I notice that oil is actually seeping out of the casting !! I double checked this and it is comming out of the casting. The adaptor is very porous and was sandblasted when I got it.Have you guys seen this ? is it normal ? After it runs for 20 min or so I can get a drip. I wanted your opinion before I call Enzo.

569,

There's enough air cirulation in the engine compartment to keep the joint from "cooking". I've never seen grease seep from the joint.

Those wonderful remote filter adapters... Enzo must buy them from the same place we get 'em. Around 25% of them seep like that. It's probably from a porous casting. You can either replace it or use something like Locktite sealant(special stuff for porous castings) to fill the voids. The piece would have to be cleaned thoroughly, but it should fix the problem. Enzo will probably replace it too, but you're still working with the 25% failure rate...
