Glen, I opted for the painted frame vs powder coat in case I would have to make frame mods.
|
Wolf,
Great progress. Any other frame modifications besides what you did for the transmission mount? What kind of exhaust setup are you going with? - Tim |

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC00503.jpg Fabricating exhaust now, all stainless Tim, the only other frame mod will be an exhaust hanger that I will weld in somewhere. Glen, the paint that ERA uses on the frame seems very hard. I don't see much of an advantage of powder coat in this application. |
^ this I like..
I love the goldish-brown patina an unpolished stainless exhaust achieves over time.....'course I'm making an assumption that you aren't polishing or coating it... As an example, here's an unpolished stainless exhaust I had on my Elise for a period of time.. The first photo is when it was new, and the second is after it was run in. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...DSCF0005-1.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...Sept5th268.jpg - Allen. |

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC00505.jpg Exhaust completed, will keep the brush finish. The ball and socket joint is a nice product from Jegs. Easy to quickly attach and remove pipes. Also allows for some adjustability. |
That's a great option. Nice work! I like that you integrated a sidepipe & muffler combo! Cut out a few DBs & still have the look & sidepipe feel/sound. Bet it will sound awesome!

Love the pipes.....
|
Wolf,
Great design and very nice fabrication! It looks like you had to take several inches off the header collector to allow for the ball & socket joint and to get the pipes to tuck up underneath the car. Please post a few more photos when you have it all installed. How much room between the top of the pipes / muffler and the bottom of the car? - Tim |
Tim - is that the configuration you're thinking of for ERA 2136?
Cheers, Glen |

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC00507.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC00508.jpg Yes, had to remove two inches off of the header collector. 2" clearance from top of pipe to bottom of floor, 1" clearance from top of muffler. Also trimmed some fiberglass from the lower body for muffler clearance, approx. 1/2'. |

Glen, Essentially yes … Wolf has a great setup set up here. Basically an under car exhaust, but that exits before the rear tire. Very functional and looks great! |

Wolf, Nice photos, thanks for sharing. Let us know how you like it, I bet it sounds & performs as good as it looks ! - Tim |
Hi Wolf,
Yes, I agree with Tim. Nice looking now and can only get better with that natural golden brown aging. What is the ground clearance? Cheers, Glen |
Sweet job!
Did you bend pipe or buy premade and connect? I will be doing similar....... Thanks |
Thanks for the nice compliments fellas, I really appreciate them.
Jeff, pipe is pre-bent mandrel sections from JEGS in which I welded up. Glen, ground clearance is 4.5" at the mufflers, my problem is going to be at the oil pan with only 3" ground clearance, especially with that drain plug. Will have to go with the Aviaid pan http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC00509.jpg |
If the pan is still going to be the lowest point, what about fabricating a sump guard for at least some protection?
Cheers, Glen |

Going this route with the oil pan. 6.5 inches tall |
Wolf,
I like that oil pan, very nice !! |
