Pretty in Pink!!

Here is an odd inquiry.
I got my registration process completed. My ERA is registered as a 1966 Ford. I have in my possession a Ford Vin plate. I have a 11 digit vin number. I don't want to engrave the numbers onto the plate, instead I want to have it stamped (embossed) like the old vin plates used to be.
Who knows how to go about doing that. Similar to dog tags.

Either way, I am tickled pink that the registration process is now complete. I am also tickled pink that personalized plate
66 427SC was available for me to apply for.

Life is good.

Talking about Pink!. Bob My speedometer cable came with a purple gear. Is that what you refer to as the "pink" or am I going to be needing a gear change as well.
I too have 3:34 rear end and a top loader.

Turk,

Maybe your eyesight is just going. Check the calibration over a measured mile, or get caught speeding! Just remember to drive at a constant speed as you're getting nabbed. They'll understand.

Specialk 09-19-2001 06:17 AM

Turk,

I seen a couple original comp cars with the numbers hand engraved. we use a special metal stamp for our cars that puts the numbers close together and in a line. you load all the numbers in the holder, then give it a wack, and then presto! If you are careful and take your time, you can just use regular metal stamps for someplace like Harbor Freight. The hardest part is keeping the numbers straight and close together.

Thats pretty sweet about the registration. Now you are legally dangerous!! :D Congratulations!

Turk,

You can buy a die punch set at your local hardware store that will do the job.

renaissance man 09-19-2001 02:22 PM

I have a small die punch set that I used on my VIN plate. I'd be happy to do it for you...gratis if you'd like to send me the plate?

renaissance man

I would be glad to send my vin plate to you. Be aware there are letters as well as numbers that need to be stamped. Can you do that too.

I just didn't want to go and buy a $100.00 plus set just to use it once.

TURK

If you have alphanumeric capability please email me with your address, and I will send it to you.

Most malls in major cities have a store called "Things Remembered". They do it for about $5.00.

renaissance man 09-19-2001 04:18 PM

I have letters as well as numbers. I did an alphanumeric combo for my own VIN. They're only 1/8 of an inch tall but fit on the standard name plate well. Each one is stamped individually so, they don't line up exactly with each other, but I think that gives it an authentic look. Email me at my home address and I'll be glad to give you the mailing address if you'd like to go with it.

:D :D :D

Turk 09-19-2001 04:59 PM

James Baldwin

I am familiar with "Things Remembered". I thought they only did engraving. I was trying to do it like a dog-tag, with raised lettering.

Renaissance man
I think I will ship it to you, if I can't get it done locally. Thanks for the help.

If the letters and numbers are NOT perfectly lined up...I will demand a refund and turn you to BBB and stop payment on my credit card and drag your name through the mud in the Consumer section of the Forum.
Do you still want to do it?:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Thanks.

Turk,

Throw her in an envelope and give me the VIN Number. I'll turn it around in one night.

I thought they are 1/8" but they are 1/16"... Anyway, they are die stamps and I fit 13 alpha/neu's on mine. Let me know...

A 3:34 Rear?

Turk,
Just because 3+3+4=10, does not mean that you have a "10 rear end". Maybe the misses, but sorry big guy, only your friends would tell you the truth. We still have the indentations in our passengers seat of the Superformance from your last visit. Now if you want to see some nice rear ends, check these out!

Turk,

The Things Remebered close to me had a debossing or revese stamping tool (as well as engraving). I use to buy the debossed plates from them a few years back (name plates used for picture frames) however, it was limited to a 3/16" letter size (height).

Sounds like RenMan has your problem solved though.

Turk 09-19-2001 09:54 PM

Thanks guys.

Things must be slowing down a bit, I got so much attention to my small problem.

Even Dan Semko chimed with his rear end. Like he always does...with his rear end.

Hey Dan, is the rear end of that car sitting a little too high? It looks way off compared what they should look like. And the paint looked a little too cheesy.
However the SPF looks great.!!:3DSMILE:
