Filling Gas Tank on an ERA 427

I've had my car on the road for about three months now, so I've filled the gas tank a few times now.
I've noticed that I can't fill the tank very quickly. It will "back up" on me and overflow if I try to use full speed on the nozzle. Is this because of the baffles in the tank, or do I have a problem?
