AVON DOT Radials
Has anyone had any experience with the AVON DOT radials? After some 300 miles this past weekend on Goodyear bias ply race tires on our wonderful roads here in the NE I could bearly walk when we got home.

They are nice, I've driven them on two cars. Good handling, turn in, transition etc.

The Goodears dart over the slightest bumps or "edge". (Here in NY they tend to pave the outer two feet of the road and you are constantly climbing on and off the "edge". Tiresome to say the least.

Jim...extremely mucho muy goodo over the Billboards, which I dearly loved. Like night and day. Worth the cost and one of the bestest things you can do for the car and yourself.

I put the subject tire, Avon CR6ZZ's, on the GT40. The tires are extremely good, that opinion formed after a few track days. Although tread depth isn't much, tire wear wasn't measureable. They stick great, don't dart and provide a reasonable ride for a race tire, which softens the financial blow . . . them suckers are expensive. Check out SASCO's listing for Avons.

I installed 225/65R15's front and 295/60R15's rear. The wider 245/60R15 wouldn't work on the GT40 due to its height, but no problem. Handling was neutral . . . no tuning necessary. The 245's should go on a Cobra, though. |

Get the Avons CR6ZZ. It is one of the best improvements you will do to your handling department. Nothing better exists for 15" wheels.

I have logged over 18,000 street, strip and track miles on Avon CRZ66s.
(I am on set #3). In a nutshell, they transform a muscle car into a super car.

Get the Avons CR6ZZ. It is one of the best improvements you will do to your handling department. Nothing better exists for 15" wheels. (245/60 x 15" at the front & 295/50 x 15" at the rear)

Avons seem to rate their sizes a little differently. The 245 might be a little too wide for the FIA. The tread width and diameter of the 225-65 is almost exactly the same is our standard 235 size.

Thanks all!
After last weekend's ERA Berkshire cruise, wife Suzanne has hidden the keys to the ERA289slabside (she did some 10 plus hours driving the little car and had a ball) and it's clear that I am relegated to the ERAFIA for all future drives. I've put on a full windshield, will swap out the old Shelby GT350 R model seat and take off the Goodyear Blue streak tires, all to make the FIA survivable on our wonderful roads here in NY.
The sacrifices one has to make for domestic tranquility...

I will pile on the Avon endorsement. I have only driven my car with Avons, but they track well and give great feedback near the limit in corners and a straight line. I have 1100 miles on my car and they show little wear despite hard driving. You won't regret the purchase.
I have 245/60 and 275/55 on mine, which are well balanced f/r on my S/C with an aluminum block 427.

Excellent. Drove up to Cape Cod and back in September (250 miles each way). Very comfortable, but didn't mind stretching my legs during fill-ups (which I do every 100 miles!). |

I'll jump in. I've got the Kirkey 41V vintage class bucket. I put 1" of "asrtonaut foam" padding in the bottom. I've got around 30,000 miles seat time in it. It's great. Overall, more comfortable than the stock Superformance seat. |
