Thanks guys.
It sounds like the bracket has some function.
I'll call Bob later this week and order one.

Ehhh, just get an angle bracket at Home Depot and slap it on there. No one'll know the difference.

maybe a dumb answer, but why not snip out some 1-2mm steel plate, drill and tap 2 holes to match those on the shiny centre bracket and mount that underneath the scuttle with some glue (so it doesnt fall out). Wont pull the bracket out, wont strain the GRP holes or the threads, and bracket still demountable.
anyone got holes for this that arent exactly on the centreline of the car? mine (not an ERA) are slightly out :(

Because it won't have a 47 degree angle...

Use aluminum rivet nuts available from McMaster Carr.

Just stick it in the bench vise and whack it with the hand sledge. BTW, you generally love one my postings like this one http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...ml#post1259625 -- I'm surprised it didn't get you out of your Barcalounger and get those fingers typing away on the keyboard. You must have just overlooked it....

Why when he can get the exact (I won't say 'correct' for the SAAC Police may pounce %/) part from Bob?
A horse's ass would be insulted if I called it 'Patrick'...**)
And yes--I overlook a LOT of your drivel...

The rod in the middle of the windscreen is there to prevent the top from pulling on the windshield upper frame thus separating it from the glass
this happens at above 60 mph when the outside air pressure is higher than the inside cabin pressure or when side curtains are left off and air rushes in and creates exsesive kite like pressure on the top.
If this is allowed to happen without the center support rod in place the upper windshield frame pulls up off glass and creates a bowed pressure stress on the glass and eventually will crack the glass.

I purchased this bar from Finishline and can't figure out how to install it. It came with no instructions at all. I called them and sent an email but they were no help at all except to tell me to go to the forums. I bought this for looks only, I just really like the look, I don't even have a top...LOL
My car already has the brace at the bottom of the windshield and I assume it gets used in conjunction with the brace already there. The bracket that came with the rod is at a 90 deg angle. If i was to put this on top of the present brace at the bottom of the windshield, I think it would be almost impossible to put the screws back in.
Does anybody know how to properly install this support rod. Thanks in advance for any help I can get

Figure it will have to be cut. No big deal with that, except how do you tighten the two supplied rod nuts, assuming I can get the bracket attached to the windshield frame

I guess I have been lucky but I have never had any problems with my windshield flexing. After breaking three glass windshields due to rocks/road debris I replaced the original glass with 3/8" MR 10 Lexan and have not had any breakage or a need for bracing.

Is that the same as "Classic Roadsters"? Just asking as they have a forum here also.

Thanks for your response but I don't believe they are the same, I was told classic motor carriages went out of business some time ago
