ERA sidepipe muffler supplier

Bob,

I have a rattle in one of my side pipes and it is time to start thinking about a replacement. I am pretty sure the baffles have rusted.

I am pretty sure my car has the quiet side pipe option. The exhaust sound is perfect. How can I tell which exhaust I have? Can you tell me who you get mufflers from or can I buy just the mufflers from ERA? Does ERA rebuild old side pipes or only sell new assemblies?

I can source the repair locally if needed, assuming I can find suitable mufflers.

No chance a kid threw a pebble up your pipes, right? I've got the "quiet type" jobs myself. If you'd like me to measure/photo something on them let me know. I'll just walk out to the garage and do it.

FYI. I had steel pipes that developed a rattle a couple of years ago. I was Jonesing for stainless steel, so I replaced them with SS.

Oddly, the SS pipes also started rattling. I recently took my car to ERA for it's 29,000 mile check up and asked them to take care of the rattle. Everyone's first thought was that it was a baffle. After Doug had some time to look at it he concluded that it was actually originating from the point where the primaries connect to the collector. After resealing them the rattle went away.

It would be nice if the rattle is in the connection. That should be easy enough to check.

My SS pipes had a rattle too. I assumed it was a baffle that had come loose but the next time I took the pipes off for some other reason, I discovered there was a 5/16" nut rolling around in there. How it ended up in the sidepipe, I have no idea.
