Hi Walter,
Thanks for sharing the pic. Good to know, and especially since we have the same coilovers. I may be wrong, but I believe Bob P. is working on ideas for a similar type upper rod that gets mounted to the top of the standard Jag hub, tied back to the frame. I can't tell exactly from your pic, but I can see a short rod there on each side. Both Mike and I are awaiting the results. Hey Mike, once Bob P. gets a blueprint/plan out, I can get two sets made for us if you're interested; from simple to highly complex - CNC billet, brackets...whatever... not a problem. |
Duane,
Very intrested let me know. |

I found a other picture on the ERA homepage. Regards, Walter |
Mike,
Did Bob P. say he was going to contact you? I have only been in conversation 2nd-party with Bob on this thread. If he contacts you, please let me know. Walter, What you have pictured there would be nice if it could be set up similarly for our stock Jag rear and std ERA subframe cage. It appears to be a different or modified hub. This pic alone depicts the need for more stabilization at the top of the hub and its all tied together to that upgraded subframe. Hi Bob, ...we know you are working on this. :) If you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts so far (time permitting) we'd all sure appreciate it. Thanks. |
Walter, your black ERA is truly an inspiration!I love the view of the Alps over the hood.Just ordered mine today( in black)with optional rear so am glad to hear that you have had no wheel hop problems. That assembly is almost too pretty to put under the car.Maybe I'll order an extra to go with the Cobra sofa in the family room.

Congrats Gary!
That didn't take long. Seeing and hearing one with an FE in it closes the deal, doesn't it? :) |
Duane,I haven't been able to sleep since Sunday!(Has anyone ever told you you're a bad influence?) FE's forever! I gave the envelope to ERA a big kiss as I dropped in into the mailbox this morning.

Gary,
Time to change your profile to ERA XXX? Phase I wondering and research is over. Please proceed to Phase II of "what color am I really going to paint it?". Phase III will include "when is that thing going to get here!". So on and so forth. I knew once you saw it, it was only a matter of time. |
Gentlemen,
Tuesday I acquired a couple of horizontal dampers and took a slightly closer look at the situation. How do you feel about welding to the chassis? It would make my job much easier. The bracket on the hub carrier would still be bolted on. |
Bob,
I would prefer bolt on. I had my frame powder coated |
Bob, do you see any benefit to using this damper with the triangular link setup used on Unique's Jag setup?
For me welding is not a problem. Although bolt on is nice. I realize of course since you will be making it for your cars that the frame mount will probably not work for my car any ways! Thanks Rick |
Bob,
after reading rdorman post, I want to clairify things. The question was how do I feel about welding on my frame. Welding is not a problem for me however I would much rather have somthing bolt on so I dont have to deal with having my frame re powder coated. |
Off topic
I have heard of people touching up the powder coating and curing under heat lamps. Any one tried this?
Rick |
Bob,
Function is my first choice. I will weld if needed; however, if a bolt-on brack could be made to fit and would be just as secure as a welded bracket, I would go for that too. Also, is inside tire clearance with brackets and fixtures going to be a concern in any way? Thanks. Duane |
Bob,
Function first and touch-ups are easy. I'm ready for your solution. However, the gas tank must be removed for welding, is that correct? Thanks, |
Welding is fine for me !
|
I'm still working on the details.
The fuel tank will probably have to be removed on the later cars with external fuel filler pipe, but can remain in place on the earlier cars. If there's enough surface, I might be able to use threaded inserts into the side rail so that the bolt-on bracket can be installed completely from the outside. |
I'm always ready for improvements....count me in too.

Dear Bob ...er Mr. Strictly Personl. Ahem.
If you have time to complete the design of the anti-wheel hop/ gravitational device, would you please inform us on this site so that we may pour money into the ERA coffers to purchase same.If the press of business prevents this, let us know. Seems to be lots of interest. Pretty Please?? |
FYI... I talked with Bob P. seven days ago on the phone and he indicated to me this was going to have to wait until after some other deliverables were completed at ERA. And, if he spent any time on it right now, it could pose an issue for him. I did my best to push for an ETA, but no dice.
He stated he wanted to get to it, and at this point, he had just started on some CAD drawings, but no real mock-ups had been made or tried yet. I let him know to just post the design and we could get it made up ourselves... I've thought of testing/mocking up something myself, but really want to see what Bob comes up with. He said it involves "a dampner type setup used in a similar manner on Mustangs". ... just passing it along. Duane |
