ERA Registry...Interest?

I noticed a thread from a year or so ago that suggested an ERA Registry. With somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 total cars now manufactured or in process or in the back of Peter's mind (427s, GT-40s, FIAs), is this of interest to ERA owners?

With an ERA Registry and support site, would we benefit from better recognition (and vehicle market value)?

What are some of the other possible benefits?

Kramer 06-16-2007 05:31 PM

I don't know about the benefits associated with a change in market valule, however it would be nice to know who else is out there for us finalizing the build on the cars. It should be optional those as some may wish to remain private.

Kramer...

Bob...is there any internal reference site. If so, have peter let me know.

Rickd 06-16-2007 05:36 PM

Red. I think a registry would be interesting just to know who and where the ERA owners are, geographically, in order to try and get more owners involved in local events. For example, in the SE USA, I would try to get ERA owners involved in things like the Reptile Roundup, this year to be held in Gainesville. I made it two years ago and it was a blast, and there were a lot of Backdraft, Factory Five, Unique and Superformance cars (I had a Unique FIA at the time). Just to make contact and try to get more people out driving their cars.

I think your right Rick. We have two other ERAs in the Deeper South Cobra Club. Mine should be done in about 60 days. Into the body work and paint now. There is another being built now in Cape Coral. Would like to see some ERA representation in the Southern US events.

I purchased ERAregistry.com. If we have enough interest, my company will put up the site. Let's see who has an interest.

As far as the option of registering, that pretty much goes without saying. I see it as a car number, owner's first initial and last name, engine, transmission, etc. and optionally a city, state and email address for contact. No phones or actual address numbers. No more information than is on this site. Maybe a picture of the car

I'm in! :3DSMILE:

FIA 2116 - non roller, no paint
A Rossi
Ford 302
T5
Alpharetta, GA

Club Cobra ID 289FIA

Now all I have left is to pick it up from the factory werks in New Britain, CT. Only took me 20 years to get this far!

So am I the first entry in the ERA registry?

ZOERA-SC7XX 06-17-2007 05:34 AM

I think it's a great idea. Peter at ERA is quite protective of any owner information...he will not give out ANY owner info to ANYONE. Thus, we cannot have contact with each other without a legitimate registry or by lurking this site. I vote for a registry.

#707 chiming in - I think it's a great idea.

Happy Father's Day from West Newbury, MA - It's a beautiful morning for a ride.

RedEsprit 06-17-2007 06:59 AM

I already talked to Peter about this and he has no problem with it other than exactly what you said...protecting customer's privacy. My personal opinion is that a registry and a site devoted to all things particular to ERAs could be very beneficial. Also a great place to advertise cars for sale where a prospective buyer can really get a "flavor" for the high quality and build standards which tend to set ERAs apart as a replica.

One of my companies provides web sites for our network of brokers. We'll build a simple tables-based website...really no big deal. Similar to SAACs. I've given it a little thouight already. We'll get input from the ERA owners as to what they would like to see on the site. In addition to the registry, we would certainly want an events area so ERA owners could coordinate and meet at local events. ERA branded shirts, jackets, etc. Going to need some good photos or an FIA, 427, and GT-40 for the header on the index page template. The basic layout is a relatively simple thing to do. www.eraregistry.com is already reserved. Cost will be minimal but we should be able to attract a few advertisers to defray any expense. We have our own servers so no hosting fees, etc. One problem we need to deal with is getting to the owners. We can certainly send messages to owners on this site that post. 800+ people out there.

sounds great, ERA FIA 2009

hey,littlecobra 06-17-2007 08:40 PM

hi. I think a 'registry' of sorts is fine.
Do we not have a 'members' type forum here???

I'd be happy to upload a photo of my car, and submit info. about #291 to a website, though. :)

We did discuss this a good bit last year or so. we even talked about an East Coast gathering of sorts. I don't think I'm up to going that far with my truck/trailer, but I don't have a problem flying in. :)
that worked when i went to London a couple of years ago.

anyway,

kristen #291 :D

I suggested a DFW COBRA directory, and have only got responses from about 20 folks. I know there are more than 20 folks with Cobra's in Dallas area; just don't think they want to be in 'my' directory. %/
I was (am) gonna just put it on a card to carry around in the car- like a little phone list.

An ERA directory wouldn't be a very big phamplet, but certainly fun to have.

I don't particularly want my name/info on website, but a private email list, hardcopy would be fine.

keep this going; let's keep talking about it.

Kristen
