Default ERA visit this week

Word has reached Texas that the infamous chassis #745 has completed paint and landed back in New Britain. I'm planning to be on-site Wed/Thu this week, so if any of the brothers in the queue would like me to photo a car, or pieces of a car, let me know

Cheers,
Sam

Sam, Tony advised me on Friday that my FIA #2117 is painted (Mystic Blue), will be buffed out on Monday, and shipped to ERA next Week. If 2117 is there, I would REALLY appreciate a photo!!!! Thanks, RickD, Miami, FL.

Sam, if all goes well 739 will be shipped and on it way home before you get there. If not, I will PM you so you might be able to snap a pic.

SSSamy:

Make sure when Peter packs your car for shipment back to Texas (or where-ever) that he packs a couple of Paradise Pizza meatball grinders in the small parts box.

Jim

PS: Tony says that the deer jerky drying rack worked real well...

Ok, so far I'm going to look for 2117 and maybe 739 .. and check on parts for Don. Will also do a pan of the final assembly area for good measure.

Jim, thanks for the suggestion .. that's the least Peter can do And I never got any of that deer jerky Oh well, as long as there's a little aroma remaining ..

If anyone else wants photos, I'll check here Tues pm one last time.

Sam

Default Day 1 photos are in my gallery

Spent about 2 hrs at ERA, Peter was his ever ebullient self. Spent a lot of time with me

Kramer, you're ready to ship except for a gauge or some such. You are all paced in boxes, pipes in bubble wrap, etc. sitting by the door.

2114(corrected), you are in the gallery, looks like about the same as me, waiting on final assembly. 2117(corrected), no sign of you yet, sorry. Also took shots of #720 and #734. If the owners of #715 and #710 are here, let me know and I will post your photos. Anyone who wants the hi-res versions of their pics, pm me with your email address and I will send it that way.

Don, ran into your son, he was chasing your parts .. so if that didn't work out, call me on my cell and I will make another pass in the am.

here's my car .. it's not really *that* red, just the flash really makes it pop:

Cheers,
Sam

#2114, your car's shots are in SSSammy's gallery. It is #2117 that has not yet arrived. It will be delivered from Tony's this Friday. Your blue with yellow stripe looks great! That car was there when I visited in January. When do you expect to get it???????????? Rick

Sammy, thank you so much for the pictures. Since it was going to be shipped tomorrow I was glad to see these pictures. I have already noticed a couple components that are not the right ones for a full comp car. Guess I will have to call Peter in the morning.

THANK YOU again,

Kramer

Default Sorry Rick!

I just realized I got 2114 and 2117 confused! I even took notes

Kramer, you're welcome .. I was standing there chatting with Peter and I said "shall we sit down and go over my order now, or would tomorrow morning be better?" He says suit yourself .. so I said "well, I'm standing here looking at you .. let's have a meeting"

Sam

Sam,

Make sure to go over your order in detail and get everything in writing. You will find those documents worth their weight in gold when you get ready to close with Peter and gang.

Thanks again for the pictures...did you get to have lunch from the truck?

Sam your car looks fast just sitting there. Nice color combo. What engine are you going to stick in it?

Thanks John .. I have a 390 FE that I got slightly used .. stock rebuilt short block and new EBrock Performer RPM top end. It is sitting on a stand in my garage already. Also a new aluminum top loader from David Kee. Except for a couple minor things (MSD, header gaskets), I think I have everything to complete the car sitting on the shelf.

Kramer, yes, we work off of paper .. gave Peter a copy of mine and he gave me a copy of his and we reconciled. Good process!

Sam:

"Peter was his ever ebullient self." Ebullient... that's one adjective. To bubble- perhaps. To boil is more like it. And I'm sure we could come up with a lot more.

Bottom line: did you get to Paradise? Peter said he would not take you to Capitol Lunch... that you would never forgive him.

Jim

Default Paradise Pizza!

Jim, my tummy is still rumbling from the meat-a-balla grinder as I sit in the airport ... Lots of time today touring .. saw the red Jag .. you may be about to get some good news Lovely blue and orange GT .. you da man! Like Will Smith said .. "I gotta get me one a deese!"

We gathered around Peter's crystal ball and it looks like another month to get my roller out of there .. less the rear differential assembly. That may be an additional month. They haven't ordered anything but 3:54's and I am a 3:31 with my WR T/L. Bummer. Looks like my venture at Run N Gun will be vicarious again .. maybe not .. have to play it day by day.

Decided to let ERA weld the tabs and brackets on the side pipes and get them coated. Will cut time on my end, I think. I can still build while they are fiddling with the diffy.

More pics later .. after I get home.

Sam

Default Thanks for posting #2114 pics.. I asked Peter back

in May to hold off finishing it because I was relocating to Texas for a new job. I got a house about a week ago with a big workshop so they got the green light to finish her up.. Yeah, I think Tony did a great job on the paint..

Default Fixed 2114/2117 error :)

Iwanta .. good luck from here on! I fixed the VIN reversal in the preceding post and in the gallery. I know Odessa is a long way from Dallas, but if you find yourself here (car or not) on any first Saturday, come meet the Dallas CC group .. we post our rendezvous plans in the Texas sub-forum usually a couple days ahead of time. Start planning for the annual Austin rally in March, too

Sam
