How about Plastidip? Works great and peels off when you want to remove it!
These have been on for 2 years and they still look great!

Sprayed on and they peel off when you don't want them anymore!
The key is putting on at least 5 coats, if you don't they peel off in little bitty pieces.
It you put on 5 or more coats, it peels off in one really tough sheet of rubber!
Mask off the area and peel off the masking tape away from the area as soon as the last coat is sprayed.
Performix Plasti Dip from Lowes or other retailers.

my son used plasti-dip on his mustang, I have to say, I was pretty impressed! It stayed on the car for 3 years, no chips, etc...

I don't know if you can still find a set of these somewhere but I bought these carbon fiber spats from F5 years ago for me Lonestar. With very minor trimming they fit perfectly. They attached with 3M double sided tape.

Does the plastidip run at all after it is sprayed or just do light multiple coats? The masking tape is removed right after the last coat?

It sort of melts into the previous coat. As long as you don't put it on way too heavy, it does not run. I tested it on a door that I was working on before spraying on my cobra, and I followed the instructions on the can and put five coats on. Right after spraying the last coat, I peeled off the tape pulling away from the paint.
When you peel it off, it's almost like the black Nitrile gloves.

I got hold of Rust-Oleum Peel Coat and tried the same thing. It works great, but the removing of the masking tape is where the problem is. It sometimes pulls the coating away. The trick is to pull it "flat" away from the coating and slowly. I succeeded on the third attempt!
