Jeff,
Your MK IV just went up a hundred grand!

cycleguy55 01-31-2023 12:09 PM

Was there a trailer and a spare car included in that price?

eschaider 01-31-2023 12:26 PM

In 1573, Thomas Tusser first observed, in his work, “Five Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie” that “a fool and his money are soon parted”

The admonition/observation is as true today as it was 450 years ago.

twobjshelbys 01-31-2023 01:46 PM

If you mean that 137,500 is a strange number the car hammered at 125,000 and the final price is +10%.

Replicas were getting stupid money. If you had a Bronco or Blazer you got stupid money. If you had a truck of almost any kind you got stupid money. Alcohol appeared to be less of a factor driving stupid this time than normal, just overall, prices were higher than expected. It was a good auction for sellers.

kevins2 01-31-2023 01:47 PM

Yeah, but it’s got the deluxe lug nut covers.

sgianino 01-31-2023 02:09 PM

Thats it! Im selling my ERA and puting down that cash for a RCR GT40 **)
I personally think it was the Blue flex style Radiator hose myself ...But the lug not covers are pretty trick

SBSerpent 01-31-2023 03:45 PM

I pity the fool that plopped down that amount of coin for an FFR.

1795 01-31-2023 04:22 PM

Hell, if someone is willing to pay that much for an FFR, I'll put the FIA race car up on Bqrret Jackson! Should fetch a quarter of a million ;)

Jim

Is this a case of someone, or a group of others attempting to "make a market" (again)? Will this same car end up on BAT in short order? Perhaps the frame rails hold something hidden and more valuable? Perhaps it was someone who just did not want his cohort to have the car? Will we ever know the whole story?

Bill S.

Redfish 02-01-2023 12:19 AM

Holy sh!t. Don’t let the CT tax assessors see this ‘market value’!

I am thinking the chrome plated quick jacks might be the secret ingredient that makes it worth so. ;)

Alfa02 02-01-2023 11:42 AM

svassh 02-02-2023 01:51 PM

CHANMADD 02-02-2023 02:33 PM

Drove a Superformance today that is about the same car. A little darker blue. 427 with port fuel injection. Dual roll bars, only 2600-mile 2 owner car. Original owner was a dealer and engine builder, and this was his personal car. Current owner bought when the business went under in the 2008 crash. This owner put 800 miles on it in 13 years. All in the first 9 years. Needs a good detail, fluids changed except oil, and all belts and hoses checked. Needs PPF film. 65K hard to say no.
