Default What T bird parts will work?

OK Gents,
You've been there done that on this stuff and I'm hoping to learn.
I have a line on a super coupe tbird complete with the 8.8 rear disc brake set up and complete front suspension.

My first question is does the F5 kit truly have a "bolt in" option for the Tbird rear IRS.

Second, is any of the Tbird front steering suspension, rack and pinion hubs etc bolt on as the fox mustang is?

Just trying to make the right decision here.

I have 8.8's, 9"s, and several sbfs and T5s to choose from / rebuild / put in a cobra kit, the question is, do I buy this Tbird or not!?

Thanks!

If you are looking for Factory Five info the best place to post is:

www.ffcobra.com

Lots of great guys who have built many different varieties of FFR cars.

Best of Luck!

The only thing you use from the Tbird is some of the IRS parts. You use the diff, CV axles (Just the joints actually since FFR gives you shorter axles), complete knuckles (hubs, bearings, bushings), and brake parts. Most people just buy the complete rear carrier since it drops out with 4 bolts and removing the driveline. You can get the clip for under $350 all day long so don't pay too much for the whole car. None of the other parts transfer to the kit. Hope this helps.

Default questions answered

Stu
Thanks a ton. I will only be getting the rear suspension out of the car, another buddy has found uses for the rest of it, and the remainder will go for scrap with a bunch of other useless stuff aorund here (who uses FMX transmissions anyway?)

Once again you guys have come through for me.

Thanks again and keep the faith.

If you are in western detroit and need a place to stop / fix / talk shop / bench race / or put your car on a hoist, drop me a line!

Cool Super Coupe FMX???

Milner 351,

Correct me if I'm wrong but Super Coupe's didn't didn't come out til 1989 and only lasted til 1995 and that was way after FMX tranny's... Ford started using the AOD in 1980 and the AODE in 1994 so the Super Coupe shud have an AODE...

Talking FMX is part of the junk pile, not the SC!

Sorry, I was just ranting about the pile of stuff I've accumulated, including an FMX tranny, no relation to the SC the IRS is coming from.
I need to find a good scrap yard around here to take all this to!
