Steve, if he's really interested in selling it, then shoot me an email or have him contact me. You never know. Depends on condition and price.
|
That SOHC engine on ebay didn't meet reserve. 15,100.00 wasn't enough.
EDIT: it wasn't me bidding. |

I may still even have a few lash caps in my shop. I may look. I imagine the new re-pops use adjustable rockers for ease of maintenance. |

Of course it assumes you could find a source for the lash caps today ... Ed |
The seller is a hermit of sorts. -- if something is serious I will buzz you.
|
CV Products sells lash caps in .001 increments over a wide range...

SOLD! For $20,275. Good deal I think for someone out there.

It needed a distributor,......so they never ran the motor? Buying it as is, where is? %/
For $20K, I'd spend the rest and get barry to build another one for me. ;) But then again I'm pretty happy with my current motor :D E |
KC offered a complete all-aluminum aftermarket SOHC engine for $40K. I hope whoever bought it, knew what they were doing. There are just very few originals for sale.
|
427 sohc....
I could of bought one for $3500, complete from pan to carbs, back in 1980 in Welland Ont.
That same year I bought NOS 427 short block for $900. |
The block shouldn't be a big deal, as I understand it it's basically a side oiler block with some drain holes drilled in it. :)
What your really buying are the heads, chain, gears and associated parts to make an SOHC with whatever side oiler block you have around. |
Alright, not an eBay auction, but someone just listed a Cammer engine for $25K on the FE Forum. Patrick, please do some trimming on your money tree in the backyard for me:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/75943...+sale+427+SOHC Patrick, he wants a 428 too. Trade? |
Wow, if I win Powerball :)

Interesting choice to sell a 427SOHC to buy a 428, even one from Barry R. Wonder why?

I've mentioned this before, but late last year, also on the FE Forum, there was another seller who wanted to sell his SOHC engine for $32K obo or trade it for an 427 S/O.
I assume with someone like KC building it and using modern day parts, like T&D rocker arms, the Cammer can be made to be ALMOST as reliable as any other FE. Obvioulsy with two cams, there's a little bit more to go wrong. |
I'm convinced from all reports that if you were to put one of these in a Cobra it would behoove you to order it to receive the engine. I've heard stories of footboxes having to be completely redesigned. Is this true?
I won $10 on powerball so I reinvested it right away. Making plans for the big win on Saturday :) |
