Rod-How much abuse do you heap on your valvetrain with a juice roller? Besides sounds like Barry will produce something we'd all like to have. It's a 'someday' thing-I'd wait unless you're going racing.

I have dreams.
But, for the time being, all my racing occurs in my mind when I go out to the garage on the weekend to lift off the car cover and gaze at my car for a few minutes.
While spending $40K on an all-aluminum SOHC engine is presently out of the budget, I don't mind spending a few hundred extra buckeroonies on better pieces here and/or there. Patrick's recent upgrade to a Romac balancer has me thinking too.
I can certainly wait. BTW, do the Sharp's require head work?

If you have a no-name balancer on there now, I would strongly urge you to upgrade. The choice of the new balancer is up to you (I do like my Romac) and if I was putting it in for you I would guesstimate two hours of my time to do it. You could just wait at the shop while it was done.

Cool! When can you fly out?
I'll have to head back to your thread and reread, but Chas's aluminum dampner or damper could be the ticket. I have a Professional Products, I think, which I believe Brent said was fine for non-racing apps. Had I the presence of mind at the time of my engine build, I would have happily paid a few hundred $$ more for an upgrade. There were many other places I could have cut corners, but didn't.
While I understand that the Ersons are great, I know I have a set, if something is discontinued and is a good part that I may need in the future, my first reaction and/or tendency is to try and hoard a remaining set "just for giggles."
I actually considered buying a new SOHC front cover newly made by Robert Pond not too long ago, based on the hope and prayer that I'll get a chance to build a Cammer someday. I didn't though. Sound reasoning must have come over me.

I would be happy to fly out. Of course, you wouldn't get my "mechanic's rate." You'd have to pay my "other rate." Same number, but the decimal point is moved one place over to the right....

So your mechanic's rate is $5.00/hour.

With the rate his car has been breaking down lately, he couldn't afford his own rate if it was much more than that...

If your E'brocks take MR stands then they do not require work. They bolt on stock MR's and Shelbys for sure. I used the same length pushrods as well.
Jessels are a premium piece that I have seen in SBF and BBC applications first hand. Didn't know they made FE sets. They're a match for the T&D reputation. Mariachi gives good testimony to their quality too.
By all means, change the damper if there's a doubt. But I'm gonna put the hook in you--don't get a Romac, good value as they are. Get my shiney, gleamy, light, IW aluminum damper. Made of your favorite material and in perfect keeping with your less-is-more theorem.
Brent, thanks for chiming-in on the HS's.
