At the end of the day, it's all marketing spin and it makes it hard to decide who's BS smells less. %/
If I can get Moroso or Taylor in black either 7mm or 8mm, I may go with them. Good quality, reputable companies. I emailed both companies as they don't make it that easy on their product catalogs to tell if they have the right size, color, etc. |
If it was me, I'd go with a Ford Racing universal set in black. Buy a good set of crimping pliers and make them up yourself. It's easy - you cut each wire to length (one end is already on), slide a boot on, fold the conductor back over the end and crimp the connector on. Slide the boot down over the connector, and you're done. Repeat 7 more times.
The 8mm+ wires are too large for the factory valve cover wire holder thingys, so you will need to buy a set of Moroso or some other brand wire separators, drill a couple of holes in them, and rivet or bolt them to the valve cover tabs. Summit has good Ford Racing prices, and quick, free shipping. |

Whatever brand wire he chooses, he'll still have to make up a valve cover holder thingy if they're over 7mm. Since he's always concerned with appearing original, I suggested a universal Moroso or other brand. The ones I used come in black, and are close to the same size and shape to the original Ford holders. Your blue ones are kinda blingy...... Making up your own custom length wires isn't hard. |

The valve cover holder "thingy's" for the Duraspark motor are made larger to accomodate the factory 8mm wires. I used them on my engine with Taylor 8.2 wires with no problem. Had to scour the junk yards to find two in good shape as they are no longer available from Ford.

Run your wires and put the separators on the valve covers. Get a heat gun/good hair dryer and heat up the separators. Immediately push the wires in. (they'll now slip in relatively easy) Let everything cool and there'll be no in/out problems in the future. |
X2 on what Undy said ... that`s what I did to my stock looms and no problems for almost two years .

That does tell me that I need to get rid of my stupid red distributor cap though.
