Default For those with AVIAD oil pans. How do you block the extra ports?

I am curious how everyone blocks the large extra dipstick hole that measures around 1/2" in diameter. Do you just use a rubber cap from lowes or home depot, or??? Im amazed at how much oil splashed out of that hole when my aluminum tape, that was just a temporary thing while i was tuning the car, came off.

I use it for what it was designed for and that is a oil beather tank on the fire wall where breather hoses come off the back of my intake (FE) could be valve covers on small block and then my return line to the pan goes to that 1/2 in tube.......Nice setup about $280.00

That's not a dipstick hole, its a port for the firewall-mounted oil puke tank return hose. I found a package of rubber caps at O'Reilly Auto Parts in the miscellaneous aisle, $3.00 and used a good hose clamp. You need to seal it well, all kinds of 212 degree Fahrenheit petro-hell going on in that pan at road speed.

1/2 inch compression coupling works well
(1/2 inch soft copper tubing from plumbing supply house)
you can get from mcmaster carr
one side can be a compression plug

ahhh, well that settles it. I have decided to hook it up to my oil puke tank.

The only issue I have had with them is routing the tube so it will drain and not having it touch the exhaust. I recently made a neat-o little clip to hold the hose back where it dips down behind the alternator as well as the aluminum straps. You have the temp rated tube that goes a nice yellow color with use. I'll try and remember to post a pic of the clip tomorrow.

That tubing turned a nice yellow color, then turned into a melted pile of goo. I have capped my return lines on both the tank and pan until I sort out better tubing and better routing. But I got a neat little black tank on my firewall that makes the country folks coming into town for the car show ask "Is that the nitrous tank?"

I only found the hose a problem where it touched the exhaust.

I made a little clip to slip over the cowl brace tube and hold it back.

I forgot to shoot it in place.

I ran the clear yellowed hose for about 14 years. Several years ago I changed to black heater hose. Several black cable ties work well to hold it in place and they blend in with the hose. I prefer the black hose look.

Some day I'll figure out how to post photos.
