This is a 1929 Bulova Drivers watch that is very rare and worn on the sde of the wrist. It is too curved to wear on top in the normal place.

This mint 1965 LeJour has the Rolex Daytona movement and came with the original band that has driving glove type holes and white leather underneath the holes to shine through

Thats nothing. Check this baby out. 2001 Elgin from walmart. It has real "faux" gold accents. The band is stainless steel, like they make nuclear reactor piping with. The good stuff. Genuine Japanese movement. Was $42.86, price rollback to $38.36. Yeah Baby!!

How bout this one. A geniune BBS wheel with a real crystal glass and a tire-tread rubber band. Marked down to $14.99.

I thought a few would get a kick out of the rare ones.
BTW most were less $$ than you would imagine. I think one Rolex in Stainless would have been more $$ than the whole package-----Just not as interesting

I have seen the re-editions and the are really good and of course made by the same company. They also have 3 registers. Mine has only 2 but it was really made in 1964 unlike my Cobra:LOL:

I've been looking for a Bulova Driver in nice condition for years! To me, it is the pinnicle of drivers watches. Where did you find it, when, how much (if you don't mind). It looks like it's in fantastic condition. Folks, if you don't know, you needed a 20s Bugatti to do it justice. My oh my.

The others are impressive as well. I'm especially impressed with the original Heuer, but the LeJour is beautiful. Where the he** did you find the Smiths?

As I posted in another thread (for your eyes--you may not have seen it), my "collection" (that's pushing it) is gauged towards my fat wrist (at least I didn't grow hair). No pictures unfortunately--haven't figured out how to do that yet.

-First limited reissue of the Heuer Monaco (not the more common second reissue). Love it to death. My wife thought it was ugly until she saw everyone wearing it in London a few months ago. You ought to try getting an oversized band (two actually-tan and black) from Tag in Switzerland--long phone call!

-I wear an Omega Seamaster Pro (big case-44) daily. Has the black wave face (not Mr. Bond's blue). Love the pressure release valve since I go down in diving bells daily (ha). Tough dam* watch. Auto reserve of over 40 hours!

-My current favorite: My Panerai. Huge. The lever. The box. The interchangeable bands with the jeweler's screwdriver. Bought it at the Bellagio after a nice little run of blackjack. Love opening up the Robb Report for the last two years and seeing it on the inside front cover (actual size) while I'm wearing it.

-Have money holding my place in line for a stainless Daytona (2 years/I have six months or so to go). It'll be my first Rolex; never held much interest in them before. I have an agent looking for an early Speedmaster as well.

--Pens: Use a black Jorg Hysek with a tan holster (damn near Harttman) daily. Numerous fountain pens (Auroras, early Pelicans, etc.). Have a MontBlanc Masterstuck Anniv. (rose gold/sterling with diamond) for signing sh*t (just to impress) and looking for an early Poe.

But my oh my, that Bulova of yours just knocks my socks off big time.

Sounds like you are into some great stuff. The Daytona is truely the watch but not in my budget for 'Stuff" right now.
As for the Bulova and as most know me, everything has a story. I was in Topanga Canyon, Cal. at an antique show when I ran across a guy with a box of watches in a box of junk. This was 1982. I pulled it out from a bunch of junk and put it on the normal way and it looked funny. The guy told me that it was a drivers watch that is worn on the side of the hand but it didn't work. He wanted $100. We settled for $50. I took it to my NY watchmaker and he fixed it to perfection for $75. He told me that it was a contract case that was probably a salesmans sample that was probably never made in production and could be one of 10 to exist. I have never seen another one. I have been offered over $2500. That was at an antique show about 5 years ago.
The Le jour is very cool in person. The Smiths I found on ebay. It was as new. I also have a collection of stop watches which also include Heuer and Smiths.....Steve

There was an article about purchasing collectable watches in, BTW, the Robb Report some time ago. Referred to the Bulova. It's also been discussed over the past year in at least two different watch sites (I wish I could remember where/when).
