Sal,

I've got a call in to them now, they are checking the build dates and will get back to me.

Jay,

Very gracious offer indeed, wish it said autolite on it and not Motorcraft, would have been perfect......

Appreciate the leads.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Bill,

A trip to the local NAPA distribution center could work. I am friendly with one of the local NAPA sales guys and a few years ago we rummaged through all of the rebuilt "FE" distributors at the DC. Found a 68 Cobra Jet housing as well as 62-63 Thunderbird tri-power unit. Of course they were all "rebuilt" as standard units but the casting number and date code are what counts, the guts can be redone. Best part was the $40 some dollar cost as opposed to the several hundred fleabay cost.

The rebuilders do not differentiate between the units, so long as it fits an "FE" car, it is generally one part number....despite the curve being incorrect for most any application!

We have done the same thing with water pumps, power steering pumps and alternators. Opening boxes and looking at them costs nothing........

Already went that route at the local auto parts stores (Napa, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc) with what they had locally. Two of the shops called around for me and had the other managers look, so far all motorcraft and no autolite in my area:(.
