Question 428 service block value

What is a new in the box old stock 428 service block worth? Block is supposed to be as shipped from the factory.

John try this DSC Motorsport Ford Racing Parts or better call and ask what they would want for one, if they had one.

I guess it would be whatever the local market will bear. The market on the west coast seems to be somewhat less as since I posted the original question I've received a couple leads around the 3-500 range. That is more what I had expected. The guy who triggered the question was asking $1200 which I thought was too high. I haven't chased any of the leads. I picked up another 105 block today that has plenty of meat in it. I'll get it sonic checked in the next couple days.

What would a 105 block that's been tested, bored to 4.13 and fully machined be worth?
Just curious as I have one.

It's got to be worth as much as the machine work and a sonic report.

I think I have about $1200-$1500 in it. In addition to the bore/sonic test, it's been decked, squared, line bored etc. That's about what I figured it was worth.
Thanks!
Larry

We do have CNC block equipment but still do a lot of prep work by hand. I think the 1200.00 for the new block is not bad. My point was that I have given 600.00 to 800.00 for good used ones to some around to bulid engines with. If you do not want the block let me know about it and I would probably buy it.

Thanks, Keith

Check the classifieds of the FE forum a few days back. I didn't keep the info. There are too many others that would suit my purpose around much more reasonably priced.

Actually, I would prefer a well seasoned used block with thousands of heat cycles as in a school bus, well pump, etc to a unused new green block---they are much more stable and hold dimensions/tolerances better----

And I do believe that KC is unpriced on his at $1500 with all the machining done --any from me will be in the $2000-$2500 area and I don't paint the interiors like he does-----
