Flushing showed nothing abnormal. Will run it tomorrow and check head temps.

Gary: checked head gasket orientation, Both sides have a corner of the gasket sticking out on the front lower corner, which I believe is correct.
I hope I can find a "Rag" !!

You that have incorporated the siphon style coolant tank add-on, what tank did you use and where did you locate it? Does the tank have to sit at the same height as the FE tank or do you have issues of it siphoning too much out?

Pictures of your tanks and install would be very helpful

Overheats while moving, or stationary?

Undy: I did have it set-up with an overflow catch can, but had to remove it to fit the Taurus Fan ! Ironic , huh ! Just no more space ! I'll look again, because I would prefer to have it onboard.
I can't remember the exact overflow I used (installed many, many years ago) but... I too am running the Taurus fan, for the last 6 to 8 years. The overflow is about 3" x 3" x 14" and I mounted it up tight and to the right of the radiator/shroud. I can take a pic of it on my LSC Cobra but it'll probably be worthless to you as it's very different from yours.

ERA big block FE cars as a rule (and my car) use the SPAL #30102120 that moves 1918 CFM of air in puller mode. This is touted as handling all but the big "monster" FE engines. https://www.amazon.com/Spal-30102120.../dp/B003PB9RZ0

The Spal 30102120 is a great fan that I used for a number of years. For our 90+ degree days and those times I've been stuck in slow traffic, I decided to add some cfm, and installed this Spal fan #30102113.

Last year I was in a traffic jam that was miles long. 85 degrees ambient temp and I moved less than 2 miles in 25 minutes. The coolant temp never exceeded 90 degrees C.

Although it moves a tornado of air, there are several caveats in the manufacturer's description to consider.

Now, I do have my pusher fans wired in on a supplemental circuit. And they do indeed make a difference when I really, really need it, which I never do unless I was trapped in a really bad, hot, backup, which I never have been. More likely, it would save my miserable butt from a boilover resulting from a failed SPAL motor, or a failed relay, or a blown circuit breaker on my primary puller fan side. I think my pusher fans would get me through most "moderately hot" situations. Here's the thread on how I wired it: Cool Modification - For Pusher Fans Only, Though

Do I have to remind everyone of that little driving mishap of yours?

It appears that all is well now, but time will tell.
Turns out that I was looking right at the problem all along without realizing it! Even with the water temp below boiling, running aprox 180 f, water/steam was being discharged thru the o'flow hose. Got out my long forgotten pressure test kit and found the cap would hold no pressure, also tested block/radiator, it held pressure,no internal leaks.
New cap (13#) and thermostat installed, test drive was good with the temp staying just under 180 Deg, with no fan running.
Still need to find a recovery can that will fit in the limited space available fwd of the eng.

Thanks for all your help' Ted

Post away... Not everyone is a waxer and a car show junkie. Some people actually drive their cars HARD!

It's all in good fun though...

Sorry for the road detour.
