How many miles on your Cobra?

I have been on this site and checking the other websites doing research and looking at Cobras for sale for the past few monhts and the thing I find interesting is that I think I have only seen one Cobra for sale with more than 8k miles.
In fact, most seem to go up for sale with less than 2k.
What gives? Does anyone keep and/or drive their Cobra??
 How many miles on yours?

~13600. :)

Good Subject for a thread...

I bought SPF #343 with 2200 miles on it Two years ago....It has 10,000 on it today.

Loved every mile of it....:D :D :D :D

Two of the guys in the BACC have over 16k on their cars.

Two others have over 30k.

A few possible reasons for low mileage at sale:

1) It's just another of many toys, no time to play with them all

2) The power was WAY too much for their skills, OR they were getting too many tickets, and came to their senses quickly?

3) They changed their mind after a few thousand real world miles, and wanted another type of replica, another cobra make, or another type of car altogether.

4) Some insurance co's require limited miles per annum, to keep premiums down

5) They over bought, or lost their job soon after obtaining the cobra. It happens, and toys are the first to go

I will likely put only 3 to 4 k miles per year on my POISSON girl, since I have other vehicles and motorcycles.

BinB you forgot one reason....

Trailer Queen itis.
Some own them just to say they have one.
I have seen several that were 5 + years old and had less than 2000 miles on them and they live here in the southwest where the weather permits driving them 10 months out of the year.

Personally, I want a driver. I pay a premium to live in this climate and I'll be da&%ed if I'll use a Cobra for dust collection.
Now if I can just save a little more money so I can buy one. This cash method is painful but that's the arrangement so I anxiously wait.

5-weeks old

421 miles (plus a few hundred before the speedo was hooked up)

The car will get most use from short cruises and the track.

Hot, cold, loud, uncomfortable, lower dependability and poor gas mileage does not lend itself to long trips. I believe most would concur............... the operative word being "most".

John

Wind in the hair and torque at the touch of the pedal is what these things are all about.

If those things are an issue for someone then they are looking at the wrong car.

Looks like your off to a good start on mileage.
I never understood the idea of building/buying a car just to have it sit quietly and look pretty. If I wanted something to sit and look pretty I'd get a mute wife.

GUMBALL 05-02-2002 02:55 PM

sorry :-(

Jamo,

Sorry to disappoint. Just disregard what I wrote as I'm full of **** half the time anyway. Enjoy the trip and bring plenty of cash for fuel. Since I get about 7 mpg with a toploader, the gas alone would cost about $250.00 for that trip. Look forward to reading about your escapades when you return. Have fun.

Regards,

John

P.S. Please say hello to Gary and Kris. They were of great help to me during completion of my car.

Trip to Las Vegas with Turk and Pat! Another 1000 miles on your car?
It will seem like eternity. Pat and I have a way of doing that to our cruising partners.

See you tomorow morning. Please gas up a night before. We don't have all day!
