Default FE Question

I talked to Unique the other day about engine choices and they did not recommend the 460/514 because of the height ( won't fit under the hood easily ). What about the High Port or Tunnel Port FE's ? Aren't they kind of tall ? I'm not doubting Unique, I'm just trying to et info to help me in my decision making. Thanks

Default Re fe

What the guys around here are doing to get their 460/514 and also the high FE engines to clear is making the hood scoops taller and larger. I use a small block FE engine and I lowered the engine just a little as I had no way to have my hood scoop redone at the time. I wish I had been able to have had my scoop redone at the time I built my car as I could have used another intake manifold and picked up about 15 more horsepower. So you can talk to any good fiberglass shop around where you live and ask them about enlarging the hood scoop.

Default Nothing is wrong

Hey Jeff, nothing is wrong with an FE. I'm just seeing what my options are.I've been a small block guy from the beginning and I'm new to the big blocks and don't know much about them. Thanks

The only FE engine that you will have difficulty fitting is the HR 427. But then, it required a bubble hood on traditional passenger cars like the Galaxie's. I have a Tunnelport, which is a fairly high-rise manifold in a Contemporary and it fits fine. My hood scoop is the normal size.
