Maybe 30K for this one. It's been listed 9 times so far this year. Never bid to anywhere close to their buy it now price tag.

The engine is described as a "427 cobra jet". That would make me nervous. No such animal.- TS

Never saw Halibrand "knock offs" like that. Interesting car, will be nice for someone at the right price.

It seems if used replica Cobras today are not totally equipped to the hilt lately in almost every way (or within the hidden guidelines some follow) it better be priced well if the owner expects to sell within a reasonable amount of time, or at all.

There have been several very nice Cobras go up for sale recently that are not selling like they use to over the last 2-3 years. This is probably not a great time of year to sell, and it will most likely pick up again as it starts to warm up. However, I believe that even moderately overpriced cars will continue to sit for sale. Lets face it, supply continues to catch up with demand. Like I've always said to a few good friends, try to build/buy the Cobra you really want just in case you end up hanging on to it for a while.

not a bad looking car, although I am wondering why someone would use a stud girdle on a cross bolted block, that sounds fishy,,Tim

Question interesting

There are some contradictions to be sure. I for one hate the bolt on's, the grill in the intake scoop, the radiator cross strut. I contacted michael rocha the dealer and suggested a few changes in the car, get rid of the grill strut, intake grill, clean up the description "427 cobra jet" post some real part numbers and engine pics and get rid of those burtis special wheels (they are 6 pin knock offs) and mount some trigo's. He seemed eager to sell it but is short on practical knowledge.

So far none of the changes have been made. Too bad "if' the car is a 427 CC it would be a screaming deal, with a 428 or even 428 CJ it's likely over priced. Either way it's an example of what not to do. He really needs to wait until March to list it.

Found another Contemporary (much better looking) on Ebay today as well:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2448341507

At $35,000, with the attention to detail that is found on this car, it is a much better deal than the one listed above. Wish I had the extra funds, as boy do I miss my Contemporary Cobra replica..........

I watched the auction on this car when it changed hands earlier in the year, and the buy-it-now was 34K. At that time, the seller advertised the motor as a vintage 427 S/O. It probably went for a bit under that, and then the current seller tried to turn it around a few weeks later at 45+ with no takers. I was skeptical of the engine block's advertised specs at 34K, and the current listing's confusing wording seems to bear out that skepticism. I'd want someone who knew their Cobras to check this out before moving on it, but if it was what they say it is, then it is quite a deal. caveat emptor!

I live in that swamp. (Houston) Never heard of 'em. Their ad's info is not very accurate to say the least. I'm tempted to go there and see it for
myself.

(ok, they left out the word "the")

"Engine: 427 Cobra Jet Side Oiler " hugh????

Bill,
Have to agree with you. That is a great looking Cobra for $35K. White Cobras look nice but don't seem to bring the $$ of some of the "flashier" colors.

Cool

Update:
I went to look at the car and met The salesman (Michael Roa).(unannounced) He told me the car was down the street in a shop for an oil leak. We drove over there and the shop owner never showed up to let us in. (hey, it's Christmas eve. I'll give him a pass) I asked why the engine is advertized as a "427 Cobra Jet". He said he does not have much experience with these cars, and that is what the owner told him. So the long and short of it is we will not know until someone looks at it first hand. I'll try again Friday.
