What's a good price for a 1965 427 block?
I have a lead on what is reported as a good 1965 427 center oiler block. It has not been tested, but it's currently housed in a running 64 Galaxie R-Code (non-matching #s), so I expect it's serviceable. What is a good price for such a block? Assuming I have it integrity tested first, how much would such testing run?
Thanks for any replies. |
Depends on the bore and condition. The standard / standard engines are $6-8k for a runner. Blocks start at $1200 and go up to about 3k. A NOS side oiler block can bring 5k. A .030 over top oiler is at it's outer limits. It might go .040, it might not. If not it's time for sleeves. I see sleeved blocks for well under 1k.

Thanks for the input. The block has not been bored, and appears very clean.
What integrity tests should I run, and how much can I expect to pay? Anyone know? |
look around at www.gessford.com for an idea what things cost. George is the best. His site has tons of information and recources.
