Steelcomp, while you made some valid points but I'm really offended at your attitude concerning the Kit Car Industry. You think the world revolves around YOU? Kit Cars are a group of people. Bikers are a group! YMCA is a group. Runners are a group. "Groups" make up the fabric of our society.
I find your attitude "pathetic" and trust me, the world doesn't give a $hit about you either. |

This is the FE Forum.... the ME Forum is actually two doors down, on the left. Seriously, buried within the bravado herein is actually some good info... I would like to see a dialog continue... without the crackling static that has the moderators on DEFCON3. Keep the thread going, but without squaring off like this, OK? Ron ClubCobra Moderator |
Steelcomp does seem to have some issues and it does not seem he has any use for anyone with a kit car of any kind. It is a lot easier to make HP with a blower than normally aspirated. I guess Steelcomp knows more about dynoes than SuperFlow does. Sounds like a talented guy. This guys comes on here and throws stones and then gets mad and leaves.
I have customers that can testify to my performance. The fact that they are happy with there engines is all I need to know. I myself have worked with some of the best castings in the country Mr. Steelcomp and CNC heads for many engine builders and cylinder head companys. I own my own DMG 80 CNC equipement and know a little about cylinder heads. Its simple as you know, we are working with an are pump. We as well make over 800HP with small blocks. My point was that these HP levels are being acheived with these parts. You of all people should know how fast the NHRA Stock and Super Stock guys are running. You are so smart tell me how Robert Pond has the A/S national record at 9.89 in a 67 Fairlane with a 427 engine that has to us the original cast iron heads, stock compression, dual plane intake and the stock 780 carburetor with a .525 lift rule. Oh I forgot you said that could be not done and to think it was tore down by the NHRA tech department to make sure it was legal. You seem to be mad at someone in the kit car industry. I have had several people work for me as you said you did for Alan Johnson and they did not have to know to much because I told them what to do. I hope you get happy soon. The next engine I build I will get ahold of you for some advice. |
Well, like we agreed a few pages back, steelcomp, there are two sides to every story, but one thing we do like to try to do around here is keep it down to a mild roar whenever possible.
Sorry you don't think much of us. I, for one, was hopeful you could add to the knowledge of the Arntz/Butler/G&S line. Up to you to stay or leave. Yup, we all might seem like a bunch of yaks to the outside world, but we'll form a circle, a$$ backed up to a$$, and defend our little corner when need be. Keith, thanks for maintaining your cool...now move your a$$ over.;) |
I am NOT a yak!!
|
Well, you do smell a little like one.

steelcomp Thanks for the nice comments. The Kit Car industry sucks, Why. Since early 80's like anything, it started small and has grow, 10,000 members in this forum alone, Some also go to FORD-FE forum. There is a lot of info being spread around. I just found the company the makes polymer distributor gears for an FE motor. Some of the guys are wearing out there gears. You had a bad time when you where in this bussiness, Sorry I spent 20 years saving money to build my car, Sure alot of the others here to the same. I don't have 350,000$ to buy a real one so this is as go as it gets. You say you build motors, Why not build an FE and bring your experience to the table. We brought up to question everything in this day and age. You are, no problem. I am waiting to see the numbers also. I am sure that you have welded heads, modified ports, changed angles on valves, filled in intake floors. changed cams and customed your own. Why not join this Club bring your ideas and questions and help ALL of us build better car. I like people that argue:rolleyes: Do you think that a cobra can travel 198 mph? I have talked to the MAN and others and now believe that it is possible. The numbers are high, KC work with Kuntz for how many years before going out on his own. I am sure that he has someone working for him that has ideas on maken more power than Keith. One day he will do the same thing. Greg Anderson work for the professor for how many years, and is now running faster than anyone my a 0.1 in the toughest class there is to run in NHRA. Why not come on board and show us your best work, It will be go for Cobras,FE motors and even yourself. You might even Meet some of the best people around:D . Rick Lake

Just another fly on the wall at a business meeting???
Perhaps if I buy in here I may be called in some pending Civil case. An expert witness or just as an owner of a KC. Aaah a fly on the wall perhaps. Hell the Australians are loading those ugly LS1 motors into their cars ( refer the Dark Side on the Aussie forum). Get over to the forum here guys and sort them out for Chr!st sake. See you soon Bernie |
I think the only thing Steelcomp has proven is that he is a legend
in his own mind! Rob |
Rob
 I think you are stirring... Bernie |
OK.........Everybody cool down, slowly put your guns on the table.
All right........now.......GROUP HUG.... feel better.......GREAT! Let's get back on track. I believe there is tons of untapped technological, usefull, knowledge available to/from the members (of this CLUB), and more specifically from our professional engine builders, Mr. Steelcomp included. Let's focus in that direction. Rick, great idea.............other engine builders in on HP build-up! Love to see that shoot-out. Warmest regards, Bret. |
I have gotten away from club cobra in recent months, this whole thread reminds me why I did,you have one person doing something, and everyone else sitting on their duff saying it can't be done, but wait,,thats the way the whole world is,,huh ?
If anything this thread has given me a great deal of respect for Keith Craft, think about this guy,He post everything here knowing it is going to be picked at,that takes guts in the first place, and confidence in his work, then after all this crap, people who tried to do what he is doing and failed questioning everything, not ONE negative thing has been said, much less proven by a customer of his,you see his name everywhere in the winners circle, and to boot,I have talked to him by phone and email a few times,he is the only person I feel has shot me totally straight, offered his help ,with no regard to what he is selling,or if I am spending money with him,I think we need a "good ole boy" or two here,,thats the real deal if you ask me,you have to respect the guy who walks the walk, any loser can talk the talk,,,Tim |
Very well............
stated, Tim. It's pretty obvious that steelcomp and CSX4027 can sure "talk the talk".

Interesting thread. I just read it for the first time and man, there is some serious $hit being thrown around here!
I don't know if KC numbers are right or not. But I like to think so. Perhaps some of the other folks here can get in on the build shootout as well. Lots of talk, but nothing to back it up, no offense intended. At least KC is going to put his engine where his mouth is. The world is an amazing place. Technology changes so rapidly I am constantly amazed. I just watched a program last night about these experimental shocks with some sort of fluid with metalic particles. When a voltage was induced to create a magnetic field the fluid would go solid in 5 hundreth of a second. Back to liquid just as fast. Change the amount of voltage and the amount that went solid changed. Amazing stuff. Remember the early days of the internal combustion engine? HUGE cubic inch engine making 40 horse power. People where amazed, in utter disbelief. Remember the first stocker making 1 HP per cubic inch? How about 2 per? 18,000 RPM V10s? Rubish! Well, it used to be. Amazing how things change. How what seems to be as good as it gets is soon shown not to be. Rick |
I just think steelcomp has anger issues or some kind of emotional problem.
I still think KCR's motors come out with an AWFUL LOT of horsepower given the guts. But, I also know what a big deal induction is. If he is working utter magic with intakes and heads, then... it's a little more believable. Just don't know why these things have to turn into real pissing matches. Why did this thread have to turn into a place to bash kit cars, the kit car industry, and all the people involved? |

Well, it just did...but why don't we all move forward. |
Can't we all just get along?:D

I would be very anxious to read how the two harshest critics on this thread account for the NHRA recordholder ET's, given class restrictions and weights, of KC customers. This criteria sidesteps the "dyno numbers" BS. Either they make the claimed power levels or they can't run the numbers.
Their technical explainations would be welcomed and would either validate their arguements or re-inforce KC's skills. Of course, this assumes that they have not totally shot their technical loads, and dismissed us as unworthy of their time, egos or assesments. Most of us really care to explore this on a factual performance basis and not be subject to major pissing contests. Steve, Steel, you still out there??? |
4474 Views to this Thread , is this a record breaker?

So, KCR, non-KCR, who cares...what is the baddest Shelby Aluminum 427 that anyone's personally seen, heard, or built? One day.... one day.........I want a high revving, non-stroked arruminum 427 that makes grown men cry. I will make it happen SOME DAY. Anyone building them just to rev like MoFo's and make huge top-end power? Not necessarily the "no replacement for displacement, so let's stroke it" mentality? Just curious. I personally love the strokers but am realizing I would probably trade 150 lb-ft of bottom end for 150 hp on the top end. **) |
