New 427 blocks through Ford Motor Sports

Any body heard anything more about this.

Supposedly Ford is going to carry these blocks manufactured by Genesis.

I hear a part number exists, but no word on pricing.

Is it true? When will they be available?

xlr8or 12-28-2004 05:52 PM

If that's true then why not just buy it from Genesis and eliminate the middle man?

Rick Parker 12-28-2004 06:06 PM

They could end up being proprietory?? IE only available from Ford?

Much like the Fluidyne radiators that are in the CSX cars. I had to go through Shelby to get one.

Just my 2 cents worth.

It's on their website catalog but not much info included yet, looks like it is in the works though.

Or better get a machined Genesis block from Keith Craft ready to build. These blocks need machine finishing before building. G.

cbmax 12-28-2004 06:15 PM

If Ford sells in their catalog, thought is it went through their QC and Ford will stand behind it.

Any truth to rumor that blocks sold through Keith Craft are "Seconds" and that is why they require add'l machining. Not bashing anyone, just want to know.

If you call Tim at Genesis, he can give you target pricing and timeline.

NO

Because ford offers a warranty and will get the distribution right and offer a complete short block for under $6k.

LwCwb 12-28-2004 08:12 PM

I downloaded the Ford Racing catalog last night, the Iron block is part number M-6010-A427 and they are $3,495.

FFR428 12-29-2004 01:48 PM

Burgs no these are not factory seconds by any means. Besides the current FE block offerings some Ford SVO blocks come the same way leaving final machine work up to customers specs. KC has stated numerous times they prefer to machine finish all their blocks before building. G.

cbmax asked, and I answered no. :D

Keith said,

" We pressure check all of the blocks as well as run them through our RMC30 CNC block machine to check the dimentions and finish machine. We try to take nothing for granted. I have gotten blocks from Shelby and Genesis with problems and we either fixed it or made them replace the block."

;)

:D Oh yeah sorry. One of those days today.**)

The blocks through Ford right now are being done by Genesis and I understand they have talked to Robert Pond about his block as well. We have received both first and what was concidered second blocks from Genesis in the past. The reason some of these blocks were considered seconds was because the bore was a little big and we used the block for a 4.280 or 4.310 bore, the lifter bores to big and we blueprinted them and installed lifter bore busching which we do to most race blocks anyway. Tim knew we could fix these blocks and then they would not be seconds when we were finished but he could not sell to the public this way.
We have been selling these short blocks for about 6500.00 with Scat crank and rods, Diomand pistons, Federal Mogul bearings, Mahle rings, zero balanced and assembled. The camshaft and timing set will run extra, cost depending on the type used. This is the block fully machined, cleaned, cam bearings installed, oil galley plugs installed, oil galley work performed, balanced and asembled with build sheet provided. These are normally 482C.I. short blocks. The 4.125 stroke runs 150.00 less because it is cheaper to balance. Maybe this helps a little and I do believe that Ford helped get a few items fixed on the block a little sooner by opening some doors to help Tim and Genesis. They also are going to get there cut as well. We will be able to sell the block through Ford or Genesis either one. Thanks and good luck, Keith

Burgs how do you like the hurricane? Any info or comments? The price looks pretty good for the kit vs whats supplied. G.

Burgs 01-09-2005 08:44 AM

I am a noob to the cobra scene, but based on comments from others, the Hurricane replica will be one of the best. The first ones will be done soon, but at my request, mine will be done around mid March. I have been very happy with the response, and support, from Mike at Hurricane. I've got a few small details to iron out, but for the most part, things are set.

I thought Ford did not offer a gaurantee on their crate engines.

If they warranty the block in question what will that amount to (if anything)?

Yes. And no more being held hostage for old/broken 427 FE blocks for much longer. Competition for supplying them with improved pricing on the product and machine work has already started.

Yeaaaaaahhhh!
