Small Oil Pan Crack
I had the car up on the lift and have been noticing oil collecting on the bottom of the oil pan. I thought it was leaking down from the valve covers as I've been messing with them. However, tonight I was wiping the oil off and then noticed a small spot reappear. Upon closer inspection there is a small hairline crack in the bottom of the pan that is leaking. Right now I stuck some gasket maker over it and topped it with a stip of duct tape.
Question is, should I pull the pan and get it repaired or buy a new one? It's an aluminum pan, Lemans style, made by Billet Fabricators out of Simi Valley, CA. If I get it fixed, are there any tips for repairing aluminum pans? If I replace it, what are the recommendations on pans to get? I have a 427 side-oiler 1965 iron block.
Thanks!
