FE in a Pantera?
Have any of you seen or heard of an FE installation into a pantera? Here is one for sale (with pretty lousy pictures). I wonder how intrusive it is.

This is the first transplant of this type that I've seen. The Pantera engine bay has plenty of room for the FE, but I wonder why anyone would bother. The 351C motor is a more modern design, and with a stroker crank and a little head work will out-power a stock displacement FE while weighing 100 pounds less.

I was at Mike McCluskey's shop last summer and he was working on a Pantera with a Boss 429 wedged in it.
It was pretty impressive looking as long as you don't mind the cylinder heads used as headrests. :JEKYLHYDE |
FE Pantera
I recall a red one in California that had a 427 in it - it was very radical with extreme flairs, all-electronic digital instrumentation, and 180 degree exhaust system. Gary Hall finished it up, after the customer had gotten in over his head with another shop.
Steve Wilkinson, another West Coast Pantera magician, showed up at Monterey one year with one that had a 454ci brand "X" in it - don't know why on earth anyone would "cross-breed" like that - other than the distributor was a heck of a lot easier to get to. Oh, yeah, and in the early 80's, when Shelby was hooking up with Chrysler, Shelby installed a 360ci Mopar V-8 into one, to tease the market for a Pantera-like sports car Chrysler was studying. The "real" car was gonna have a turbo 4 in it, but they did a V-8 show car to keep the faithful interested. I was in Shelby's shop in Santa Fe Springs the day the car arrived. regards, cobrajeff |
How about an 8.7l Hemi in a Pantera:

I've owned two of them, any improvements to a pantera is more than welcome.
