11.99 1/4 mile with 9.8 on PUMP GAS!
Well the new motor is not quite "dialed in", but I'm on the right track. 11.99 at 118 mph shifting at 5800 rpm (should be 6200).
New motor:
9.8 to 1 C.R.
282S Comp Cam, flat tappet solid
600 cfm twin Holleys
Very "street" friendly and gets about 10+ mpg.
Old motor:
12.5 to 1
Solid Roller Cam
660 cfm twin Holleys
NOT "street" freindly in ANY way and got about 6 mpg.
I ran the 1/4 in 11.90 at 121 mph.
I'm shifting early (5800) because I'm still "dialing in" the new motor for timing and jetting, not quite ready for prime time yet.
George Anderson, Gessford Machine, worked VERY closely with me on "blue printing" this engine. Piston height and Compression Ratio were HUGE issues. The idea was to find "hidden horse power" by utliizing the "quench" factor. I would say George really nailed it with the overall "specs". A totally "streetable" engine that pulls as strong as the old "race ready" engine before. AND runs on 92 octane pump gas!
Assembling an engine is one thing, the REAL trick is "blue printing" the engine! My hats off to George, WOW!
