Wikipedia, not exactly the most accurate reference point around. Heck anybody can edit a definition and make it say whatever you want! :D
Other sources specify a 'careful search' of the Ford archives show the name to be Ford Engine!

From what I researched it means "Ford Edsel"

Ford/Edsel. You have to have the slash in there for it to be proper. -John

FE Definition
Based on the documents Ford provided in their literature with new cars in 1962 and 1963, the FE is for Ford/Edsel. I ordered a 427 Galasie in early 63 and about 5 of my buddies also did the same.
How about all "us old guys" that "have been there and done that" settle it once and for all.
I appreciate the humor about "Farm Engine":LOL:
