Idling and stalling
 
rsimeos I would check all the electrical connections first, power and ground. DON'T OVERTIGHTEN. You are running a 527 motor so that cam is not so big with this many cubes. I would recomend getting an A/F meter to check the mixture coming out the tail pipe. As said you may have 2 diffeerent problems. With a cam this size and do not know how it was installed, straight up or 4 degrees retard or advance. this will effect how a motor runs. where is the power band for this cam starting 2,000, 2,500, 3,000 rpm. This all effects your idle. With large cams idling is not good for them. It is hard on the camshaft lifters and valve springs. the bottomend also takes a beating on the bearings. Your motor doesn't sound like it want to be lugged at low rpm. I am sure that Kieth C built what you asked for. If you want the motor more civil to drive, get a smaller cam installed. Look in the low .600" lift range. You don't need 650hp in your cobra to have as much fun as 550 hp. %/ Rick Lake Ps I do it with 368hp and 470ft of tork.

Had to cancel, my flight was late so I missed my connecting flight, didn't get home in time.

I toyed with it this weekend and here is what I found:

1) Closed secondary butterflies and opened 3/4 of a turn as recommended by Quick Fuel, which bumped the idle from 1000 to 2000 RPM.
2) Reset the idle to 900 RPM

Seems to run and idle a little better now. Very responsive, but was always responsive.
